Jack Clarke

From a team containing Stewart, Simms, Amad and Clarke who were all contributing goals and assists for fun we find ourselves on the verge of having none of them and having replaced them with players who have barely an assist or goal to their name.

If Clarke goes, any incoming strikers need to be a reincarnation of Pele to give us the slightest chance of a promotion tilt,

There’s ZERO chance of £20m being reinvested in player spending in sufficient time.

Another Soeakman induced ‘season plod’ if JC is sold is incoming.
Yep

How much did all those cost? The sale of Lihaji covers the lot - whilst Ballard, Jobe, Clarke, Cirkin, Hume, Alese, gives the current squad an asset value of over 100 million! But yeah our recruitment is shocking! I’m guessing you’ve never ran a business!!

Those two wins lately must be killing you. How’s your relegation prediction going?

You don’t have faith in the recruitment team to find a replacement! That’s the same recruitment team that brought Clarke, Amad, Bullard, Hume,Jobe, Roberts, Jobe, Alese, Cirkin, Simms, Broadhead, Ekwah etc to the club! It’s mind blowing how negativity can overtake someone’s mind!
I wasn't meaning to be overly negative. More just that there's limited time left I don't know if they have a replacement ready to go.

I'd argue that Jack Clarke is the most exciting prospect in UK football , if not European football, with stats to back that up.

Hold your nerve Sunderland!
I’d say he is nowhere near this level

Brilliant for Sunderland and a top class championship player, but as much as I don’t want to say it Trippier had him in his back pocket last year

Aware of that and have said all summer we will have a good season this year and the squad was better than it showed.

But even now there's very few of the players brought in with the Stewart money that's making any sort of impact. The same results can't happen woth the Clarke money, its not good enough.
Do you think it’s realistic that we bring someone in as good as Clarke?

Is Ipswich for real or what offering £15 million plush ad ons taking to about £19 million plus. When them have just paid £15 million for a striker who has scored about 12 goals over three championship loans. I now the club want £25 million for Clarke

The suitable replacement (if indeed he leaves) needs to be here in 8 days.

The fear is that he is already here - Mundle who at best can be described as promising but raw and certainly isn’t ready to chip in 15-20 Championship goals with 10+ assists.
Clarke was an exceptional piece of recruitment! If he leaves we get 15 million plus. I agree Mundle and Watson have potential but aren’t there yet! Rusyn and Poveda could play out wide, but I’d expect that money to be reinvested in more quality signings.

Recruitment has been excellent. Anyone can spend 20 million and find a good player. We are signing top young players - investing in potential which is clearly harder to identify but so far our approach is taking the club forward!

I agree with some of this list but it's amazing to me that we are writing off players who have joined just 1-2 windows ago. Burstow was a miss, Styles was a miss, Bass was a backup keeper that was simply expected to warm the bench, Dack was a miss but likely a Mowbray man, Dajaku was a miss.

I'd imagine we flipped Lihadji and Matete for little profits. Beyond that, there's a ton of young players who either haven't gotten a chance or need minutes elsewhere. Hemir is 21 and still has a whole career ahead of him - we don't know what he'll be, Rusyn was brought in as a striker but that's not his position and has played fine in stretches, Pembele is 21 and hasn't gotten a run of games but it looks like there's a player in there, Triantis - the jury is still out and we don't even know his best position, Seelt looks good and has deputised at multiple positions.

Point being, at this age it's quite an inexact science and development is not linear - some players don't physically fill out until later, some players "figure it out" in terms of attitude and work ethic later, some players simply don't get the chance, and some players just need a different environment. For every RIgg, there's a Vardy; Jason Steele looked dreadful for us and doesn't look out of place in the Premier League when called upon. I think to make definitive judgments on players so early on is just a fool's errand.

No offence mate but I think the whole tone of this post illustrates the current problem. The whole PR machine of the “model” has got far too many of our supporters thinking in terms of assets - and not in terms of team/squad building. The latter is what the club exists to do. It’s about success on the pitch.

The place for talking about players who “will maybe come good” is academy football. If the players in question had been signed and put in the u21 set up, very few people would have an issue.

They cost a lot.

In terms of aggregate fees, wages, agent costs, opportunity cost, and general morale.

Erm, what?! Are you on drugs?

What prediction are you referring to?
You called LeBris the French Michael Beale!!! Speakman the worst thing to happen to the club!! Big question - did you get a game on your school team?

My point was Mundle starts Saturday because he’s clearly the understudy to Clarke. We wouldn’t suddenly see Ruysn or Watson starting there.

As someone has posted above, this Isodor fella from the Russian league looks like a similar type of player to Clarke in that he prefers playing off the left.

I’m not sure what the rumoured fee for him is, but that’s the kind of recruitment I think the club will go for. We’re never going to go and buy the players to get us promoted. We’ll keep buying players we think can improve and hope we have a squad good enough at some point.
I thought the “ new “ fellla has played more Centre floorboard than on the wing?
