Jack Clarke

That depends on the selling club agreeing to spreading the cost.
We own the player.
If they want him, they meet our terms.
Speakman has a lot of faults, but I bet he plays hardball in situations like that, when we hold all the cards.

I'll put my neck on the line and say that no-one will be paying £30m upfront like. It's just not money that people have including billionaires who have most their money tied up in assets.

It’s going to be a long ten days……loads of deals still to be done in the premier league and I still think that’s where the biggest threat to us losing Clarke comes from.

Brentford will have £50m from Toney’s sale to spend as just one example.

£25m is almost too steep for virtually every championship club but it still looks an absolute bargain in terms of premium league spending levels.

Hasn't got a boyhood club btw just came through their academy. I'm pretty sure he never followed a club
He told us at a POY presentation exactly this but always enjoyed watching Liverpool
you did last year and still couldn't get the job done. you wont go up this year
You forget about the backing of the greatest fans in universe ! Who will drive them to victory by singing “I predict a riot”

This, exactly. We have leverage for now - but once his contract gets down to 18 month and then 12 months, we hold far fewer cards in this game of poker. Unless KLD/Speakman are looking in the mirror and honestly saying they believe that we'll be Premier League by the end of the contract, they've only got a few windows to sell at this value(unless they can extend him).

Do I want him to go? Of course not, we'd be much-weakened without him but you can bet Speakman and KLD will be looking at the business side of this much more than we, as fans.
We are surely at the stick or twist stage with regards a serious push for promotion.

That means deciding whether to "risk" some serious investment to balance the experience and depth of the squad and who we take on the journey with us.

Could we still get promoted without Clark? As things stand right now, no, but with a 15 to 20 goal striker, maybe.

It's a good job us supporters don't make the decisions like.

I think you're probably right mate.
But if Speakman wants to play hardball, it is a bargaining tool he can use to demand more up front.
