Jack Clarke

I’d have no issue in selling him if I had any confidence in Speakman spending the profit on a couple of decent players (see what Coventry did with Gyokeres money). That’s the entire concept of how we are supposed to being run. But I don’t, so it’s imperative that we hold on to him.

The worry is, if Leeds are genuinely interested and willing to pay; despite him clearly being happy here, I guess we can’t compete with the contract they can offer. And at the end of the day, it will come down to money.

How has he failed ? He’s assembled and tied down a team of players worth’s 10s of millions each 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 Been promoted and been in the playoffs
596 days without signing a proven goalscorer.

I know I'm never going to change your mind but imo he's failed in the last 3 transfer windows and if we don't sign a striker in the next 2 weeks that will be 4.

I reckon Speakman spends a good 10 minutes in the supermarket shaking his head while picking up every brand of baked beans to check the prices.

He hasn’t failed we would of been in the playoffs if it wasn’t for the manager fiasco and the injuries we have a squad that’s went from worth not one penny to talk of players getting bids for 10-25 million if you think that’s a bad job than you need to get real. The window is still open mayenda is off the mark

Irreplaceable. No player will come close

And who was in charge of that 🤣

I think the club would be actively keen to sell at the right price, because they would see it as vindication of the model to make that profit to reinvest in the team. I've said for a while now that I think our whole approach this summer has implied the expectation or even hope that we sell a player for a decent profit so we can then use that to bring in a few key players for decent fees.

It's a huge test for their way of doing things, and I think we shouldn't expect to see him here come the end of August

And that's not what we should be doing. We will buy players according to the model, and some of them will fail to make it, some will make perfectly good first team players and a few will end up as stars who we likely leave for big money.

We continue to apply the model across the team, and if its done properly, the club will start becoming profitable. Investing the proceeds doesn't only mean player purchases, it means "the club", as a whole.

But that's when you can start to err towards the side of current ability rather than potential, and look to progress up the table.
The development process needs to be spot on though, things like having about 6 players for the AM position last year was a massive failure in the plans. Now we seem to have Jobe and Auchiche, and maybe Ba - much better balance.

Say what you want about the ambition of KLD, but we are in a pretty strong position financially and have Clarke with 2 years still remaining on his contract. Unless we get a bid too good to turn down, basically the same money Leeds got for Summerville, we can just keep him.

It’s already working man look at the strength on the bench not one Darren Gibson in sight Neil gets injured Ekwah comes in , people have no patience they want instant full squad of quality , we sign an experienced striker now mayendas coming through all the time players are growing getting better and gaining experience as one squad growing together

I’d say there is a good chance of us getting promoted within 2 years, I’d take a chance on keeping him for the sake of a bit money which we will have to spend anyway to replace him

Assuming a PL move won't happen, you'd think that Clarke would be angling for a new contract with some kind of release clause that's less than what we're asking for now, if we don't go up.

That's the most straightforward route to the Prem for him IMO. If he goes to Leeds and they don't go up, he could spend his prime priced out of a move. Here, he's settled, playing well and is our key player.

That's before you get onto the fact that spending £20/£25m on one player as a Championship club is a mental idea in a league where strength in depth is both everything and something the rest of the league can't afford.

Difference is, Coventry sold him at the start of the window. We would be literally going around clubs trying to get a replacement late on with 20 million in the bank and we know Speakman and co won’t overpay for anyone regardless. I could see a situation where we get spun that Mundle and Poveda are sufficient, then the books will get released next year and they will be made to look like a loss or very little profit, meaning the money is gone. Hope I’m wrong and it enables us to move swiftly for 2-3 quality players who can improve the squad which is thin in areas.

LEEDS WILL NOT PAY £25m FOR JC.
I’ll guarantee that. (Based on absolutely nothing)
If he leaves it will be to a prem team.

On Speakman; would be interesting to see the squad the day he joined and compare it to now

I’m sure the value difference is many multiples what we have spent in that time. So he’s definitely added something

Saying that, the striker thing and effectively giving up last season makes me irrationally angry
