The best post was when Alex Neil left us to go to Stoke and he came in to that thread to tell us how much better the stoke squad is and how'd they're far better than us and far more likely to get in the play offs. Aged well, that one.

I’d be gutted he went to a team in the same league, but he’ll likely get a pay rise, he’ll be going to the club he supported as a kid (can never begrudge anyone that) and it means we’ve got our asking price. Not the end of the world, just a big dent in our play off hopes, but we’ll get over it.
 
As late as its getting we should be asking for more especially if the rumours about 40% sell on are true. I wonder if this is why the club are more willing to break the wage structure to keep clarke than we were for stewart.

I think we'll accept something like 25 million up front + 5 million if they are promoted + a decent sell on. Its sickening to sell for 25 and only get 15 though.

I think the sell on fee is 20% or 25% max, I haven't seen 40% mentioned anywhere.

They 100% need to break the wage structure to hang onto players of his calibre. Need to be offering 35/40k per week to keep hold of him.

Seen it mentioned below and also nick barnes said yesterday if we sell for 25, 10 will go to spurs.

Hopefully not true but it would make sense they have a large sell on as they paid over 10 million and we didnt spend anywhere near that on him.

Yeah I don't think that's anywhere close tbh. If it is it's another thing Speakman wants locking up over. What's the point in buying cheap players to sell on for a profit if half the money goes to his previous club. It just blows "the model" apart.

Because we have had about 4 seasons out of him for nowt ! And still made a big profit !you think speakman put that clause in ??? 🤣 🤣 🤣 Has it ever occurred to you it may of been spurs seen as they paid about 12 million for him

So for his financial security he would be a fool not to leave !the kicker will be though if he goes to another championship side as it will demonstrate how useless our owners are ...I think most fans would like to keep him ,well at least this year and if he does go i hope its to a prem side ...I know brissy is trying to create a team less reliant on clarke but even if hes having a bad game ,just his presence on the pitch means the opposition still have to set up to try to stop him and that leaves space for others!If we keep clarke and get a striker in we will have a very good chance of top six (if all keep fit)lose clarke and rely on our present attacking forces i think top six will be a pipe dream!
