Wow, that bottom one is a shocker

Dunno how it happened but Gilly travelled with us for a while, perhaps @Pedro or @Richard The Third knows why.

Absolutely great lad but nearly got us into bother a few times.

He always wanted to run on the pitch

He used to travel with Sheff & me by train now & again.
Remember once being at Buck Palace about 8 one Satda morning, we told him the top of the fence was gold (& not gold paint) & he climbed up & was trying to scratch some off with polis at the other side trying to knock him down ;)

I've been sent these images tonight by e-mail and I've been asked to put them on this thread:

Gordon Bucket - Legend round Sunderland used to clean cars round local businesses. Got kidnapped by vauxies lads in town night before first third division game of the season v Brentford in 87 and taken down on the train. Got purposely arrested outside griffin park to get away from them before the match??

Great fotos Harry . I think the 60' casuals one is promotion day 1964 . We all thought we'd never get relegated again, ever .

I was in the Clock Stand paddock for that one. The away tie was at Xmas time and was one of the best away days I had, apart from the result. Dancing on the tables in their supporters club before the game and we were invited back and got home late the following day. I was in Bolton recently and drove past where Burnden Park used to be I couldn't help but chuckle at the memory.
You'll remember the absolute pissing rain that day in Bolton . Pitch black dark at 3.30 .

Thought I'd post this one full size - George Sumemrside at Hull circa 1976 with one of his mates and Gary Rowell - 4 years yesterday I'm told since he passed away. RIP George - not forgotten.

The NUFC v SAFC 1979 one BTW are events from The Battle Of Bath Lane
I've never seen such a clear photo of the Bath Lane escapade. Who is the big lad with sunlun scarf on to right of copper watching two lads having it without a care in the world ??

Gan on Tommy Lynn!
Spilled mare on me tie:lol:
Me dog drinks more than Touchline;)

Great spot hawkeye.
Just can't picture where we were and I've been to Leeds loads of times.

I think I know where that was.

If you picture yourself behind the goal there was a corner, at one time, for the away supporters.
There was an empty zone that segregated the stand to the right which was paddocks below and seats above

In this match the Sunderland section was seriously overcrowded and we jumped the fence to fill that 'empty zone'.

The lad who has turned side on in the Rowell photo - was that one of the Stephenson brothers ?? Colin ?? Lived Roker, went to Redby, year above me. Was a canny footballer too. Alan Stephenson and a lad nicknamed Cod were best muckers.

The empty zones in the Lowfields paddock soon got filled in 80 or 81. Got a bit nawteeee.

Frankie always gave us our change in pies

You'd hand over a fiver for a four quid trip and a meat and potato back.

Or cans of lager. My 21st birthday Cambridge away on Franky's bus £4.50 bus fare in reality it was a fiver and a free can of lager. Used to pick up in every village in Co. Durham or so it seemed.

Correct. Drank with Podge & co in the New Derby

IIRC we jumped into that one segregation section which was empty. When that quickly filled up the next section was jumped into which still had Leeds in.

It was a bit nasty until the police saw sense and got Leeds out.

it backfired on them big style i lived in gateshead at the time played footy with a few of the gits ..they hated me after that day luckly my older bro n a few older gateshead lads looked after me .it was mayhem up to ground and afterwards what they did not like was we fought back and done it simple as that everyone had an option either dont go to match . run . or give it back . if you had no scarf on they new you were sland if you did you were a target so either way you were knackerd them days .

Thubron(sp)? Don't know his first name. Maybe Colin. Older than me. Had a couple of brothers. Never seen any of them for years.
That's right cheers.
Gary was a cracking footballer - think he played for Sunlun boys. He is a year older than me and was in school year above. Mel was 2 years up from me and Colin/Cod was 3 years older. Can you remember the twins - am sure one was called Mick ? They weren't in to footy iirc.
