And I'm on a 6S. These phones should be powerful enough now to handle OS changes for a long time. Apple can't keep claiming each new phone is the fastest thing the world's ever seen them 5 years later they can't handle a pretty much identical OS.

You know what mate, now you mention it, since 11.0.1 I have noticed slight UI delays. Tapping home and it struggles to minimise, the animation is sluggish at times.

That is on a brand new 8 Plus as well, so it is nothing to do with your phone.
 


I still haven't updated to iOS 11 but I'm having an iphone 8 delivered this evening (I was after a 7 but if I went for an 8 I'd get double the storage and 2GB more data for just £3 a month extra [comparing the 8 on a 30m contract and the 7 on a 24, both with Tesco) so I'll need to update my 6 before I set up the new one so I can restore the backup when I switch over.
