India tour

It's saying it needs to be a jpg or jpeg format, but as far as I can see it is! I double checked with my go to IT geek in the family this afternoon as well
I kept trying to upload it. Same problem. I then went back and went through the form and was about to give up and then checked it and it had uploaded. Same when I did the wifeys. Also did it in the library. Form took 15 minutes, upload problems about 2 hours.

Logged onto my work laptop in the end instead of my tablet, and it worked. Fingers crossed

Whats the best value option for using phone/data roaming out there? Was thinking of getting a lebara sim and making sure my phone is unlocked. Has anyone had issues with connectivity in India before?

I was gonna buy a 28 day SIM at Delhi airport for a tenner or so, but the queue at the Airtel kiosk was slow and had a few people in it. It was 2am and I wanted to get to my hotel for a kip so swerved it. Apparently it's a quick process doing it at the airport but trying to do it at a store landside is a bit more drawn out. I'm already on a SIM only and bought my phone independently so no issues with unlocking. I ended up just using free WiFi (which can be very hit and miss) and the odd day's roaming (£7 with EE). I let my missus use my phone as and when so we didn't collar two lots of roaming charges.

If I go one a one-weeker I normally do a 7 day e-Sim on Airalo now. Costs £7 or £8 ish. Message me if you want a referral code.

Apparently there's a mobile shop/kiosk called CxSol in the arrivals area at Hyderabad airport.
It's supposed to be easier for foreigners than outside the airport.
It appears that outside the airport, you need a photograph, photography of passport and God knaas what else.
I'd have to look again, but deals are ridiculously cheap. Something like three or five quid for 1.5 GB per day for day for 28days plus free calls etc
Not sure if it's just local calls and outside the state counts as roaming.
It's supposed to take a few hours to work, as they have to send off info "Know Your Customer" to authorise it, presumably to prevent fraud.

Dunno if Hyderabad airport is the same, but once you left the terminal building at Delhi you weren't allowed back in under any circumstances so need to make sure you got it up and running before you left.

It looks like that tv rights haven't been snapped up. Can't imagine it won't be on tv.
So, hopefully, Test cricket can make a rare appearance on terrestrial tv, even if people only watch it for a couple of hours before work. Better timings than Oz and NZ, with a likely 4 a.m start or so.
Added advantage of watching on +1, at 5 a.m, then missing out the lunch break and only losing 20 minutes play when you go live at 7a.m

Ended up on channel 4 the last time England toured and they got the rights for next to nowt.

Same old story with the TV rights in India.

Both sides play a bit of brinkmanship and usually a deal is struck very close to the start of the tour.

Last time Sky & BT (as they were then) refused to pay the going rate and C4 got them for around £7m which was probably much less than what the host broadcater wanted.

I've noticed recently TNT have broadcast a fair amount of live cricket over the last few weeks so maybe they will put a bid in. Can't see Sky paying over the odds. We might all end up listening to Talk Sport.

They paid about 1/3 of what BCCI originally wanted apparently.

I was going to say it’s not the first time it happened and it sure won’t be the last. It’ll end up getting shown somewhere and it’ll just be direct host feed nothing else, which at that time of the day is probably all that’s needed.
