ID checks for away tickets

For some reason my ticket yesterday had been archived. I did not archive it. Reading this thread no biggie in the grand scheme of things but it did seem a bit odd.
This happened to me. I assumed that the expiry date on it had been set incorrectly which is why it though it was old.
Without wanting to derail the thread, that’s why I’d always choose an iPhone.

What will have happened is that an admin bod will have set a parameter incorrectly on the Android version of the ticket. Absolutely nothing to do with the capability of the operating system and just as easy to do on the iOS version.
Ideally just take the smallest possible allocation
And how would that solve a single problem that has been discussed on this thread?

Don’t remember complaints about the system for Plymouth and Swansea away.
Difficult to understand people supporting a system that bans people from passing in tickets to a mate in cases where there plans have to change last minute through illness etc.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion though.

It'd keep the part timers out

True though isn’t it. There’s only an “issue” with the system when we’re good or it’s a big game.
This works on many levels.

As an exile, it was relatively easy to pick up tickets in previous seasons from high pointers who didn’t really want to attend a match but just needed to keep points up.

Now that the games are more glamorous and more high pointers are attending the games rather than passing on tickets, it’s much more difficult to pick up a “spare” and now virtually impossible to pick one up at face value.

Scarcity of tickets will always precipitate debate, but don’t assume that the those complaining haven’t done some miles (often on the behalf of others).

In reality, there should be two points of view.

1. People who believe that the current system is fit for purpose and does not require change.

2. People who think that the current system is flawed and requires review and change.

I personally can get on board with either of these opinions and can see sensible arguments in favour of both.

There are however an extra group who believe

3. People who believe the current system is fit for purpose and does not require change but do not, under any circumstances, want the rules of the scheme they profess to agree with enforced in any way by the club.

I struggle with the latter.
The key point about number 3 is why is there a big fuss and need to change now when it’s worked fine for years, it’s laughable all the people who didn’t bother going through the tough times now want it to be reviewed/changed , happened with the mags post Saudis now look at their away ends ….a good way would be to ask the players would you like anything to change about the away ends

iv seen exiles at aways this season who were there in league one and championship , so if you are in the same circles it’s still possible, I agree it’s much harder for anyone who didn’t bother much in the crap times and thats the way it should be

Aye. It’s possible but much more difficult/ expensive tbh.

You make some good points here but we need to be careful with the assumption that high points holders ate the most deserving as there ate, as you know, many in the away end who haven’t had a BCP allocated to them for years.

Thing is mate if people wanted to go to Brighton they could have, that Facebook page was full of spares as it’s a less desirable game, allot of tickets will have exchanged hands this season for popular games but won’t have made it to social media as mates will have helped mates out away from the internet, and the lads who have been helped will have been there in the crap times, it’s always going to be the popular games where people who didn’t bother back then start kicking up a fuss , was same in the championship and even league one with small allocations, demand is through the roof this season but doesn’t mean that should change something that’s worked for years, what im saying doesn’t work for every ticket/circumstance that’s never gonna be the case but on the whole the current system awards loyalty, demand will drop the longer we are in the prem and the moaners will disappear again (until we play the mags)

Didn’t see any ID checks but was stood near an entrance to watch the last ten minutes of the mags game and saw 6 different people have trouble with their tickets. Thankfully the Brighton supervisor who was on the gate let them in once proof of purchase was shown.

I reckon there will be ID checks down Brentford , it’s paper tickets with Fan numbers printed on them.
I have two tickets for Brentford and the fan number is the same on both tickets. I reckon thats for home fans use.

That happened to me as well. I just unarchived it manually. The NFC didnt work either and I had to use the QR code.

These comments are starting to get just as boring as the complaints from the newcomers

They are 10x more boring - because it only becomes an issue when people are able to buy tickets for every single game knowing they are guaranteed to be able to shift them on.

It obviously wasn't an issue in League 1.

Just add my bit...
The top point scorers , I'm not, deserve it...its not entitlement.
The ones who seem entitled are those who didn't fancy Wigan away on many occasions, but do want to go to Spurs new ground.
Away games were quite a common event outside of the Premier league. In fact , 50% were away.

Its true though isn't it. But the closed shop gang dont want to hear it.

No issues at all with the system last season..... Apart from Boro and Leeds away when the system was s£%t again.

Bit of a trend developing there....

Or even relatively close ones last season like Preston, Stoke, Coventry etc which people with less than 10 points could have easily went to 🤷‍♂️ bit of a coincidence how a lot of people are suddenly available to go to away games this year.

As happened to some others, mine and bro's tickets had also disappeared from our Google Wallets when we got to the turnstiles at Brighton. Both had gone into 'Archived Passes', for reasons unknown. Not our doing.

Have to say, it was a bit of a shock to find the tickets gone. Absolutely shite in fact. Like reaching into your pocket for a paper ticket and finding it gone.

It's always been possible to build your points in the past, aye you maybe had to go to less attractive games before you could go to Boro, Leeds etc. But now it's impossible to build points, which if it stays that way they will have to try to change something.
