I actually did price the overall cost about 4 years ago,it was around £120k if memory serves me well,cant remember the length of time,maybe year and a half or two years?Get your PPL lot quicker,lot cheaper,see how you enjoy it,i did a flex-wing microlight course spread over a month.
A mate did it a few years ago. His was £80k. Based out of MK for the classroom modules then over to NZ for the flying. Jacked it in after about 2 months. His parents remortgaged their house for him. They were really happy.

I think I factored in living costs and everything mate,it was also for one of my kids,he chose a different path in the end,got to do what you got to do for your kids,whats your mate doing now?
 
A friends daughter is in USA at the mo doing it.
She has he private pilot license already but she’s ( or her dads paying) 100k.
There’s sponsorship available through ba iirc if you are a lass but it’s still 70k or something but that’s just something he said in passing. She’s not doing through ba so I’m guessing it wasn’t an attractive deal.
His thinking is that a university degree is 60-70 all in so why not pay the rest on another qualification?
 
150k should see you through.

You need minimal qualifications

Mates son became one. Did his alevels and then went to flight school for 18 months.

Already had his private pilots license and did his first solo flight at 16.

Started at 18 and flying with easyJet doing a320s before be was 20...



You can take out a specialist pilot type mortgage to pay for it.

Think total course costs were about 110k and that included living expenses plust 6 months out in the states where you get lots of flying hours up

Easy, just hoy the auto pilot on and get pissed. Seriously though I think it goes on flight time hours gained, some top pilots have 1000 hours and a lot more. I think when you get to 500 you will be on your way to being a good airline pilot. I would imaging that would cost a lot of money however it could be spread over a few years. So I guess it depends how quickly you want to become a pro.

So fly for 20 hours a week and after a year you are a top pilot?
 
Guy from that prestigious seat of learning Pennywell Comp went on to become a commercial pilot,originally from south hylton,lives in the states now,private charter I think he does,seems to have a decent life.
 
Depends what your flight time.is on...
Have 5000 hours flying little planes but you still need to do the commercial training
I was going to specify commercial but as its in the OP didn't think I'd bother. I don't think flying a kite will look very good on your CV now would it..

I notice Ryanair will no longer be training British Pilots, only "individuals who hold an EU/EEA Passport with the unrestricted right to live and work in Europe."

They employ a lot of Eastern European ones anyway.. get them cheaper
