How can we defeat Covid-19 ?

Everyone should be using hand sanitiser really. I can’t think of any way of keeping surfaces clean.

Certain types of metal exert an ‘oligodynamic’ effect which has a mildly antimicrobial effect but surely someone can invent a surface that viruses can’t live on

That is copper, proven and tested, around 11 seconds and virus is dead, stainless steel, virus lasts hours or longer.

If we must continue with the war rhetoric and as we're clearly on the defence, the best tactic at present is force dispersal. Until we have weapons like vaccines and treatments to attack it.

Dare I mention herd immunity.

I don't mean as a target but it is the ultimate conclusion with or without a vaccine.

I think herd immunity is already playing some part in the lack of spread in London/South East.

If it lasts three days then why not just close all shops and supermarkets for three days, shops are probably the biggest carriers.

And then they reopen, rinse and repeat.
