Holidaying abroad this year

Absolute farce all these hoops you have to go through to travel.
Just back from Spain and our locater forms didn't even get looked at during passport control.

roveneimi(sp)? the mrs went there a couple of times a fair few years back and loved it.
I'd imagine it's fantastic for kids.
Levi this time, went a few years ago to rovaniemi and it was amazing, but the kids don't really remember it. They're 8 and 10 now and still both believe so this could be the last chance really. Fingers crossed we get to go.

So let's recap. What will the new fat-free, low calorie, sugar free, diet regulations be like? I know the simplified regulations hopefully coming in soon will see Green and Amber consolidated into one group and only Red as the only colour of any definition and there is less tests to do which will be cheaper. But that is all I know. My vague interpretation is that there is one test for traveller's returning -a single PCR test on Day 2 or one LFT. Is that true?
Yes a single Day 2 test ......for fully vaxed returnees from Green (everywhere other than red countries )

The Gov website stipulates a PCR test

But some folks on here reckon you can get away with LFT

(Not sure on latter )

Whichever test it is - you need to have booked / paid for it and added the ref number to your UK passenger locator form ( online submission) before you can board the flight back to Blighty

Day 2 tests have to be a PCR currently. That will change to a LFT later next month.

On the government website it 'advises' a PCR test for your pre-departure test before coming home. So you can use an LFT as it's only advice. But that is being scrapped anyway from 4th October.

Not the first time I've heard this. Why's it bollocks?

Relatively easy to cross-check systems using the passport number.
I recently came back from working in Brazil, landed in Edinburgh. When I landed if you tried to use the auto gate it wouldn't let you through, you had to go to a booth and give them details of your quarantine booking and wait to be escorted. All linked to your passport number.

For anyone around Manchester, Eurofins have a drive through PCR test for £20, it's on the outskirts of Warrington.
They also offer the same drive through service near Heathrow for £40.

How much did it cost you? If you don’t mind me asking? And how long you there for? Would love to do this trip. Normally costs a fortune.
