what strings are people using for bass. I'm still on Ernie ball hybrid slinky. It's a shame the place down the town closed down :(

I just got some fender 58`s tape wound strings, really liking them. But I also use them with hand wound pick ups from warman guitars which sound awsome and are really cheap

No, just gear 4 music, decided not to inflict the match on her so we left the house about 1. Didn't have time to get to both. I liked how you could just get the guitars down off the wall and play them in the shop. She loved it.

Picked a hartwood revival in red. She's buzzing with it. Reviews seem canny enough.
Top man! Looks like a great bit of kit, hope she loves it!

Ernie ball but I use flat wounds on my basses. You just made me look at my strings, they are desperate to be changed as they are lifting.

Currently fighting the urge to buy another bass.

I really don’t need to but I can hear a P bass calling.

My newest excuse is “well it would save me buying a new set of strings”.

Which it wouldn’t because I would immediately restring it with flat wounds.

I would like to find somewhere that buys guitars and sell my Epiphone Les Paul 1950's style to them and then use that cash to help fund the purchase of an Epiphone Casino

Guitarguitar buy used gear for cash or you can offset it against your new guitar.

Obviously you will not get anything like what you would get selling it privately

They currently have Casino’s in stock ranging from £379 right up to £3,199.

I suppose you might have your reasons but why not sell it on eBay, reverb or marketplace? You'll get more than you would selling to a company who'll make sure they get a healthy markup when they re-sell

Anyway, rich tone will buy it Sell Your Gear

Don't suppose the Les Paul is in ebony is it?

edit - rich tone have a cherry Casino in 2nd hand Epiphone Casino - Cherry - 2nd Hand (133937)

I have never really used ebay before, but I wouldn't want anyone coming to our house which is what i assume ebay selling would involve.

It's a gold Les Paul

You can post, or say buyer collects. Packing and posting a guitar is more of a pain, but if you have a local guitar shop they might have a spare box.

Hmm depends as the sellers fee’s are ridiculous on reverb these days, then you’ve got the PayPal fee or another reverb transaction fee, and postage plus you’ve got to deal with people wanting your gear for next to nowt.
If a shop has something your after and your just wanting to offset some of the cash towards it I think it’s handy to just trade in.

Cheers. I'm going to wait for them to arrive and then watch a couple of videos.

The straight edge is an odd one. It seems you either pay about £70, which is really expensive for what is essentially a ruler with some notches cut in. Or you pay anywhere from about £12-30 where reviews say the teeth are not quite cut properly and you need a file to finish it off to a usable standard. I've gone for a £12.99 Amazon one and will see if it is a load of crap or not when it arrives.
Just to follow up on this. I got a notched straight edge and fret rocker from Amazon. They were lightweight, had sharp unfinished edges (that would scratch the hell out of a guitar) and put next to a known straight edge, they were not straight. I could have spent a couple of hours in the shed filing them into something useful, but also the notches did not match any guitar I tried it against (electric, acoustic, Fender, Squirer, Epiphone).

Sent it back, bought some stuff from Crimson Guitars, spending £60 for the same sort of stuff, only this is solid, smooth and well made. My old crap guitar I was going to experiment with is actually straight, but my son's guitar with loads of fret buzz isn't. Now comes the scary bit!

The luthier stuff from Crimson is expensive but worth it for the few pieces I've bought. Plus Mr Crimson has some mad tattoos and an accent that totally doesn't suit the way he looks

I was very tempted to do some serious shopping for things I have no plans to use in at least a few months. I managed to hold off!

This Sunday at Rainton , not just guitars , amps / Fx / mikes/ mike stands/ guitar spares/ strings etc .
Every year there is a stand where you pay the bloke £10 leave your guitar with the price on it and your mobile number then you can walk around the show if your phone goes off walk back and see who's interested and if you can do a deal , i've done it a few times over the years and have sold a bit stuff.
Darren Bond i think he is called.
*** i haven't checked this year yet but will get back on this ***

***Update on guitar show ***
Darren bond is* not * there this year so no paying £10 for a stand and leaving your guitar****
