Alas, I think the James Oliver Band have cancelled tomorrow due to ill health.

Do you know if you pay in with your card bud?

Might pop down later. I wasn’t supposed to be at home this weekend but shit went wrong. I’m sure the present Mrs dinsdale will have a list of tasks as long as my arm for me to do too.
never went in the end. Was it any good?

Thinking of starting a new musical venture.

New personnel, new sounds. It will mean severing existing arrangements which is never nice but I feel the need to be creative.

I’ll probably be too scared to do it.

I went as hadn’t been before as I’ve been busy the last few years when it’s been up this way…

Took just over 40 minutes to get in which was a piss take, absolute bedlam once inside but to be expected I suppose.

Prices at the stalls on the whole were much more realistic to what you see online, besides the partscaster I saw priced £750 and a ‘vintage 60’s’ SG jr which some lunatic was asking £8.5k for…
Weren’t that many amps about.

The ‘beauty of the bursts’ display only had one burst on display which annoyed me but there was a cool as fuck 56 custom with staple p-90’s which may have stole my heart…
One stall had a few vintage player grade fenders and this real ugly brown red 1960 custom lester up for sale but tbf the seller looked sick of his life with the interrogation he was receiving from the older lads.

Also, had to queue way too long for a drink, was made slightly more entertaining by the lad infront ranting about the lack of jazzmasters about and that he regretted not driving to Birmingham instead to pick up a firebird he’d negotiated a class price for…

Canny enough, got to look at some cool old guitars but doubt I’ll go to another.

Should’ve really just used the time to play my guitars instead 🤣

I heard about the queues which put me on the back foot before I even set off. Got there and saw the parking was stacked out and folk were just chucking theirs on double yellows. Thought it would be just my luck to end up with a £60 just to look at some guitars. Also the lack of offsets sounds disturbing :-O:lol:

Was there many people selling parts, or just whole guitars?

Aye that was mental mind ya, we just parked further down the estate and walked along, nee drama.
Tbf to him I think the lack of jazzmasters about was the least of his problems.
There was a beat to shit blonde 65 jaguar for just under £9k and another vintage mustang up for grabs for over £4K at one stall.
Errr one stall had a few necks hanging up and a crate of loaded pickguards but I can’t remember seeing anything else, I thought the lad pushing his luthier courses would’ve had some diy kits, but couldn’t see anything other than some fancy looking builds.
I presume rather than selling parts, the money is in knocking them together and selling them that way as the amount of ‘custom built’ strats/teles was staggering like.

Also, forgot to ask in my initial post, does anyone know the importance of the year 95 with epiphone casinos? As there was a fair few of these priced pretty high

Epiphones were made in Japan (i think) then Korea and now China. I guess the 95 might be a last year for Japan or Korean made so the quality may be higher.

Was the same at the last one I went to - everything priced at top end reverb pricing and not much buying going on.

Add in the deafening noise of a hundred bad blues solos at once.

My mate picked up a nice old Kalamazoo KG-14 at a decent price though.

Just checked and it appears the 95 casinos were made in the Korean Peerless factory which has a good reputation for hollow bodies and archtops so i guess it is a quality issue.

Makes sense, they all had 95’ then a name which I can’t bloody remember, must’ve been the name of the factory.
Casinos are class guitars like, when they’re not whistling at ya that is 🤣

That’s it! Cheers

You're not wrong there. And don't forget to throw it down the stairs a few times, call it reliced and stick an extra 0 on the end of the price
I absolutely adore my dinged up tele, chipped paint, chunks out of it and all sorts but I honestly can’t get my head round people paying thousands for a guitar that’s had a f***ing sander taken to it

The relicing done by Fenders custom shop is very high quality. They finish the guitars just like if they were going to go for sale including sometimes putting a base coat under the finish of sunbursts.

The also “age” certain parts to give a road worn look and a played in feel.

This has divided guitarists since it started and will continue to do so.

It’s all a matter of taste which I get, but I get the impression a lot of these are bought by well paid lads who pick them up maybe once a month but want to give off a certain impression

I don’t have any guitars that are relic’s. I look after my gear and even my old guitars are in great condition. I have a 78 Strat that is in great condition with only a bit of fret wear and scratches to the pick guard.
