Greenwood's future

Fair point.

That all becomes a bit minority report though right - convicting a man for a crime he might commit, not one he actually has.

Don’t get me wrong if he was my son in law he wouldn’t be able to play football. Horrible little spelk.
A court of law can’t convict for something he might do no but there’s something there’s a lot of evidence to suggest he did do and no football club in their right mind would let him represent them

you also point out she has clearly forgiven him, abuse victims are often either in denial or under a hold from their abuser where they feel they can’t leave them/report them, she may well still be suffering despite the front being put on

I agree unfortunately he can’t just be sacked without compensation due to a lack of conviction but all evidence suggests the blokes an absolute monster and can’t be left to a position of privilege, the club need to take the financial hit, bin him off and leave him to his own devices and you’d hope no one else is stupid enough to give it a go

No but my reaction would be dictated by her probably. If she said help I’d help. If she said I’m fine I’d probably be more diplomatic. I’d respect her views - would you not? Jesus man
Not sure a view given whilst at clear physical and psychological threat and experiencing harm is particularly reliable.
I don’t think you can really consent to being abused.

What somebody says and what somebody wants to say are sometimes very different things.

Totally agree mate - I’ve seen abuse close hand too.

But who are we to decide on this case - this close to it don’t seem bothered. Not sure why a man from Gateshead should be

Agreed - but 2 years later if the same person has been given public support, shunned it, not taken legal action, gone on to have two children with the person and is now posing for happy family pictures.

Not sure why we should all be outraged whilst they are cuddling up on a sofa watching Netflix

Plenty of abused partners have done those things because they fear the consequences of leaving and are psychologically abused and coerced. I think it’s perfectly normal to be disgusted by his behaviour but we shouldn’t entirely dismiss the possibility he is reformed and they are happy. Nonetheless I wouldn’t want him here just as I didn’t want McFadzean and was opposed to Evans when we were linked.

I agree mate - perfectly normal to be disgusted and agree wouldn’t want him to come here. Man Utd have a different problem on the basis he’s contracted to them so have more skin in the game.

I always hate the notion of being offended on someone else’s behalf. On the assumption that Harriet has been given support and power to speak out (not all victims do) you’ve also got to assume she’s more able to make decisions about her life than a fat lad from Gateshead (me). So I say if she says it’s ok, then it’s ok.

Mason: Move your f***ing legs up!

Harriet: No! I don't want to have sex!

M: I don't give a fuck what you want, you little shit.

H: Mason!

M: Shut up. Stop talking to me. Stop!

H: Stop putting your dick near me.

M: I'm going to fuck you, you twat!

H: I don't want to have sex with you!

M: I don't care if you don't want f***ing sex with me, do you hear me?

H: Why do you have to do this, though?

M: Cause I asked you politely and you wouldn't do it!

H: (Inaudible. Something about sex with other people?)

M: I asked you politely and you wouldn't do it so what else do you want me to do?

H: Then go and fuck someone else.

M: I don't want to fuck someone else!

H: You do.

M: No I don't.

M: Push me again one more time and watch what happens to you.

H: No.

M: Well, you will actually.

It’s mental that anyone can read that and think ‘aww, poor footballer. This could happen to anyone so get him back in the team’

Having a child with your victim after the fact, means what. Canny bit of bullshit people spouting shite thinking puts them on the right side of things.
He’s a scumbag, him and his supposed victim have a kid, might be getting married. Get off your high horses, and be real about this, stop saying shit you think you’re supposed to. He’s a rapey ****, there I’ve done it for yous.

This is modern day life right here - people being outraged on other people’s behalf.

The tape is horrible - but the person who should be outraged is his partner and her family.

She clearly isn’t - not sure why anyone else has the responsibility or even the right to be outraged on her behalf!?

Modern day life eh being disgusted by a violent rapist. What's wrong with the world?

He's a piece of shit that has successfully brainwashed his partner into not pressing charges.

Be a great signing for anyone, Man Utd will end up keeping him imo. Those recordings are rotten like - he's an immature piece of shit tbh who needs a good hiding, and rehabilitation if that is possible with abusers. He's lucky he's rich and valuable as an asset.
There are courses for perpetrators of domestic abuse, to try and rehabilitate them.

Probably a bit like an addiction, first step is realising you have a problem. Perhaps he has. Who knows.

I wonder if he came out and said he acknowledged his behaviour was wrong, he's done a course to rectify his behaviour and he apologises whether there could b a route back for him.

Thank fuck Man Utd haven’t done something so utterly spineless as to delay making a decision on his future so they can ask their women’s team what should happen, thereby putting them in the firing line for some sexist, misogynistic hate.

If this was an average youth player he'd be off the books by now. The fact this process has dragged out is clearly about United trying to hold onto a valuable asset. It's about money and always will be.

Blame those wokey women! Perhaps right to consult the womens team but privately not publicly putting everything on them. Always going to put them in the firing line sadly.

They're waiting to check with the lasses away for their world cup if they can stomach him staying.
So MUFC have made the decision and it’s keep him. If they leaked that about the women players by the way, it’s a shitty thing to do. It puts public pressure on the women when it’s nothing to do with them and makes MUFC look like they have abdicated any moral compass

He should go to a country that doesn't care about men raping women, Saudi or one like it, of course I'm sure the mags would give him a chance since their owner wanted to marry a bairn.

He deserves a second chance in my opinion. He messed up, the recordings are damning but he was 18 and drunk. We all make mistakes. He's paid by losing 18 months of his career. There's no guarantee he'll even get back to the heights he was at. Ultimately, if his partner and her family can forgive him and no charges were brought, he deserves a chance.

All for rehab and second chances provided there’s cause to offer the chance. I’d expect some DV perpetrator rehab courses and a public statement before offering that chance and would probably say that opportunity should be at a different club if he was our player.
