Greenwood's future

It’s quite sad the rapey fucker hasn’t been sacked purely because of his value. Any employee other than footballer and he’d have been sacked long before charges were dropped

They have introduced a new card in Monopoly.
‘Having a baby, get out of jail free card’

He deserves a second chance in my opinion. He messed up, the recordings are damning but he was 18 and drunk. We all make mistakes. He's paid by losing 18 months of his career. There's no guarantee he'll even get back to the heights he was at. Ultimately, if his partner and her family can forgive him and no charges were brought, he deserves a chance.
Fine, but that surely requires that the person has clearly owned their behaviour, publicly atoned for it and there's a clear sense that he's truly sorry. Otherwise what message does it send to young men and young women?

Are those conditions in place here?

Any male could be charged with this sort of offence simply by a pissed up woman complaining to police. It could be me, my son, my mate etc. Given his high profile, I'm sure that if there had been evidence to prosecute (& find guilty) the case would've continued. For me, same as any worker anywhere he returns to work. Over the years I can recall, Steve Moran, Mark Wright, Jonny Evans, our own Titus (brother took the rap I recall) all being charged. Ched Evans etc.
For me, move on, let him play
Slightly different scenario by a country mile…have you even heard the tape. It’s madness that charges couldn’t be brought on that alone despite the girl retracting her evidence. Only remorse I’d imagine greenwood has is that the recording existed

and if Man U play him again it sends out the wrong message completely from the biggest club in the country and one of the biggest in the world

The tape is damning no doubt about it and I'd be extremely reluctant to bring him back into the fold if we were in Man United's shoes. However, in mitigation to MG, he was a daft 18 year old lad pissed up. I'm a big believer in giving people a second chance. If he has atoned for what he has done, shown remorse, and kept his head down, does he not deserve the chance to be rehabilitated and reintergrated into the society in which he makes a living as thousands upon thousands who HAVE been convicted of crimes do every day?

What does that show to all the girls that take notice of football, some lad does absolute shiit to ya, but it’s ok he was drunk/ young/ stupid…give him a pass? and he’s kept his head down because to do otherwise he would have to answer questions, has he taken any proper interviews yet where the interviewer asks about the night in question? I’m assuming if someone is remorseful they’ll also be open to say truthfully what they did that night.
if someone wants to be rehabilitated surely they have to open up about what they did and why

and as a further example, say something atrocious like this happened to one of the Man U girls team should they say meh it’s all ok give him a pass as you know the lad was drunk…the fact greenwood was/ is worth so much money is the only thing that has stopped Man U dumping his arse, if he was a reserve player he’d have been gone long before now

I’ve never been so drunk I told my missus that she was going to have sex with me even if she didn’t want to.

f***ing embarrassing post.

Not sure he needs to publicly do anything. He's owes the general public nothing but he owes his partner and family and friends a true sense of sorry

I think you're missing the point in your desire to appear outraged.

What it can show is that if he is genuinely remorseful is that he can be reintergeated back into the society he makes a living in. He's not been given a pass, even though he hasn't been convicted of a crime, he has lost 18 months of his career.

I'd imagine he has been asked significant questions by the police, Man United and probably the PFA and Football Association. He has to be given a platform to open up on his remorsefulness, has he been given that? Just whack a statement out on Instagram/Twitter, he'll be accused of just trying to twist the story to suit his narrative.

I don't deny that his value as a player has undoubtedly played a part in whatever decision Man United make.

If it's not clear he rejects the actions and the person he was, if it's not absolute obvious he has atoned, how can you say he deserves a second chance? Why does he deserve it? Do you just give them out without any conditions?

But you list Mike Tyson as your favourite boxer ever. It doesn't make sense. He's a convicted rapist yet you praise him (I won't link the post in which you did this but you did). You're a hypocrite

It'd be worrying if I had because he's not

Please do share the link

Can you not play the ball rather than the man?

You did, in the thread about favourite boxers. You named Duran and Tyson. Go take a look. I won't embarrass you any further about it but if you want to hero worship a convicted rapist, that's your call

I mean if you say so, I don't have the foggiest about such a thread. But honestly mate I'm not embarrassed in the slightest. I'm not really sure why you've turned this into anything about me rather than the issue we're discussing.

Pure weird twist

Apologies, I shouldn't have made it personal. I take that back but I still remain of the opinion that Greenwood deserves a second chance and the only people whom he owes any apologies to are his Partner (and mother of his child) friends, family and his employers.

Aye just a daft little rapist. We’ve all been there

You reckon Nonces deserve a second chance. Adam Johnson one last dance anyone
I don't think he raped her there mate
Have you read the above? Haway

You're making a huge leap there. I maybe missed some posts but it's my understanding that he didn't rape or sexually assault a child. In fact, following a police investigation, it was found no crimes had been committed. He's gone on to marry her and have a child, I don't think Johnson did that with the child he asssulted.

Ha no bother. You've got your view, I've got mine.
