It’s actually only the doorway that’s old I think. That came from the original Golden Lion that was there before that building.

I've never heard of him actually living in the pub - in the compound next to it with all of his dogs, yes. But never the pub itself.

He will have claimed that he owned it - he used to tell anyone who would listen that he owned most of South Hylton.
