The Master
Midfield
She compared the people of Kings Landing to those in Mereen.Biggest issue with Dany's turn is that she's spent seven and a half seasons trying desperately not to be The Mad Queen, only to turn for no reason at all after the battle is won.
In Mereen they overthrew the Masters and worshipped Dany, In Westeros they didn't. She convinced herself that this makes them as bad as the enemy, she isn't seeing herself as burning innocents, she's burning those who stood by while Cersei committed atrocities. Once she realised that Jon was many in Westeros' preferred ruler then she thought that she had to rule by fear, not by worship like in Mereen.
She's not opposed to killing innocents either. In Mereen when she crucified all of the noble men then it was made clear that not all of them were guilty, however she justified it by claiming they stood by while others committed those acts, exactly the same justification she used as those in Kings Landing. She also executed an innocent man to try and scare the Golden Harpies away from attacking her.
Another example is when she found out that Yunkai was financing the Golden Harpies. She wanted to burn all of the city to the ground but had to be convinced not to by her advisors. Now all of her advisors are either dead or she doesn't trust them, meaning that she's more likely to go with her mad tendencies. This is repeated when she first gets to Westeros and is dead set on attacking King's Landing with her Dragons but Tyrion convinces her not to due to the amount of innocent lives that would be lost.
An argument can be made for her descent going a bit too fast, but there is no way that she turned for no reason at all.
She's been like this all along and her madness was gradually building. The fear of everyone choosing Jon rather than her along with all of those closest to her dying or betraying her has just tipped her over the edge.
