Forthcoming gigs.

Was fancying Echo and The Bunnymen for one last time perhaps, at City Hall. Read a very scathing review of Ian's voice from a gig ealier this week. He was losing it last time and I'd hoped it was temporary. I think I'll give it a miss and remember them how they were.

Anyone at SLF gig on Saturday? I haven't seen them for about 3 years, just wondering if he made it more of a mag thing with the amount of other bands that do it now. They never used to go overboard with it, even though Jake used to go to mag games years ago. Was a post on their Facebook page about how much he loves Newcastle

Got tickets to see Korn and Architects at the arena in October this morning. It’s already making me question how old I am.
Me too, although the bairn wants to go and shes 14's played it safe for a seating ticket incase the floor was mental

Time to check out architects then as ive heard of them but couldnt tell you a song by them

got a bit of a shock at the prices, i was told £77 but then logged on it said £91 but that was including the fees,

Not sure whether it counts as a gig but I went to a recording of Radio 4's 'Geoff Norcott's Working Men's Club' at The Stand in Newcastle.

What an odd evening. It was basically Geoff reading from a script on his laptop and introducing questions which had been circulated to the audience on a sheet of paper prior to the show. The audience was then asked to interact. The contributions were very weak indeed. The most amusing aspect was that there were three 'Mikes' in a row who made contributions. Geoff stumbled so many times over the script and had to repeat himself so many times it was irritating.

The standard of the questions....Who would win in a fight between Ben Shephard and Dermot O'Leary?

There was a women who was front and centre of the audience only about six feet from Norcott. She was so vocal initially that I felt she was a plant. As the show went on she just kept on saying stuff that was not welcomed and it was clear she wasn't a plant. Norcott was visibly narked and you could tell he wanted to chuck her out.

Before the show the audience had to do a small laugh, medium laugh and big laugh to 'test the levels'.

I'm sure it will be edited in such a way that it sounds quite smooth and I'm convinced the 'test the levels' laughs were just to patch into the recording. There were a few genuine laughs but there were embarrassing silences where Geoff even said he'd have expected a laugh.

It ran on a bit and I left during the interval. It was free and interesting to see how these shows are made. Broadcast next month I think.

Paradise Lost in Belfast this weekend and The Wildhearts in a couple of weeks in Liverpool.

The Wildhearts one in particular will be tough given the news but will go into it with Ginger's intentions and wishes.

yeah, that's a tough one. Hope it's a cracker. Sad news, but he wants to go out his way.

Got James coming up in Newcastle next month. Any other SMBers heading through?
April 14th Nottingham for me.
And Leeds and Nottingham. The Farm live are honking.
I saw them in Birmingham in about 1990 when I was a teenager. The older lads thought that they were cack but I was easily impressed back then.

We traveled 30 miles in the back of a van, I was sat on the inside of a wheel arch. One lad had a fight with locals at a chippy on the way home. Great days.

I was supposed to be there on Saturday but couldn't go due to a family matter..it's same old same old..i mean they're great..Burns has a bit political rant..talks about depression and the crowd goes a bit quiet when they're not playing stuff off their first two albums..I'll be there next year..🔥

He used to sit in East Stand. I have seen them dozens of times. Never heard him talk football.
