Are they Better Than Before? (oof)Got tickets for Midway Still at the Little Buildings in July, tiny venue beside the Tanners in Ouseburn. They played the old Riverside club few times in the 90s, don't gig much nowadays

Never seen them either. They used to play with bands like Leatherface, Snuff, Senseless Things, Mega City 4 etc. Even though I saw most of the others in that late 80s/early 90s period, somehow never managed to catch Midway Still. They were a class band. Never got to see them back in the day.
Loved their cover of you made me realise.
Just listed my early teenage record collection there! Loved all those and managed to see the rest of them live.Never seen them either. I saw that it looked poorly sold upstairs. HM don't seem to have found a new audience among the younger generation in the way that some have, so I imagine the venue will smell of Voltarol rather than weed.Happy Mondays at City Hall tonight, impossible to see how many standing tickets but semed to be a good amount of tickets upstairs left in the balconies before they took them off sale earlier on.
Was listening to the Shadow Child remix of Loose Fit today. Still a class band, the music stands up, but the whole Shaun Ryder / Bez characters don’t stand up when you’re an old bloke. Even some of the old punks manage it & are still interesting to watch, but Happy Mondays don’t look great.I saw that it looked poorly sold upstairs. One of my not so proud moments. Friday of Kubix, Mondays are headlining. Gets to the pub about 2pm to meet the lads, walks in & one says the Mondays have pulled out. I said “well somebody better be f***ing dead”. RIP PaulNorthside have pulled out of tonight’s gig .
And Leeds and Nottingham. The Farm live are honking.Northside have pulled out of tonight’s gig .
Think I’ve seen them at festivals a couple of times & Groovy Train & All Together Now are good, but the rest just sounds like the same song over & over. And Leeds and Nottingham. The Farm live are honking.
Think I saw Mega City 4 just once but Snuff and Senseless Things several times. Some good memories of those gigsJust listed my early teenage record collection there! Loved all those and managed to see the rest of them live.
Unfortunately Midway still dont seem to be coming over to Ireland, which is getting more and more common these days post brexit.
I loved that period. Bands that focussed on songs rather than image. Sweaty venues. This from Newcastle Riverside.Think I saw Mega City 4 just once but Snuff and Senseless Things several times. Some good memories of those gigs
Aye sweaty is the word. Used to drip off the walls in a packed Riverside back in the dayI loved that period. Bands that focussed on songs rather than image. Sweaty venues. This from Newcastle Riverside.

Sweat off the walls and ceiling along with ankle deep in piss in the bogs. Happy days.Aye sweaty is the word. Used to drip off the walls in a packed Riverside back in the day
Shaun said in this interview that him and Bez don't rehearse now but the rest of the band do.Enjoyed that. First show of their tour, there's not a chance in the world that Ryder had rehearsed with the band even once before mindstood in the same spot all night hunched over an autocue struggling with the lyrics for Loose Fit and Step On never mind the Pills n Thrills album tracks they hadn't played in years!
Think it was Holiday or Harmony where he said something like 'Wrote this in 1989. Isn't it funny how you remember things like that? Well I don't remember, it's written in bold in front of me' that's probably the best way to summarise that tonight![]()
