I completed it at level 39.
Everyone's at level 50 now. I'm off over the wall later on. Dreading it as I know you and others have said this is where it disappoints.

Yeah, unfortunately. It's all downhill form there, in my opinion.Everyone's at level 50 now. I'm off over the wall later on. Dreading it as I know you and others have said this is where it disappoints.
Not gone to the shinra building yet.
Have a few side quests to tie up.
For people who played the original, Is it essential I do before playing this remake?
No mate but the remake only covers the first area of the original.
Yeah I've heard that t's just the first section of the original. I always heard it gives you context playing the original that's all. I bought the original on PSN a mother or so ago anyway but it might just become one of the games I download and never play
If you enjoy the remake then go back and play the original marra you will be able to get the context in reverse if that makes sense.
I'm gona wait until the price comes down regardless of which I play first. Never played a FF game. Just downloading 15 atm actually.
Don't judge the series on 15 mind. It isn't great.
I've heard this one is different but never been into JRPGs so thought this more western one would be a gateway. Saying that I played around 50 hours of Persona 5 before I sacked it off
I've been a final fantasy spenk since the original FF7 came out so can't give a non biased opinion on it marra.
I appreciate the honesty. At the same time though by coming to games later I may have different expectations compared to someone who hasn't got older reference points.
Try not to let us get in your head marra. The people who seem to be disappointed with the remake are people who were big fans of the original it seems. I might be the same when I finish it in a couple of days.
There’s some bits in the remake which are line for line the same and other major plot points which don’t exist in the original. Having played the original the new bits spoil it for me but only because I know the original plot. Newcomers seem to enjoy the remake more than fans of the franchise. If you enjoy the remake then I’d go back to the original. That said it’s aged significantly and you might find it tough to get into.I appreciate the honesty. I don't think 8 looks good now but still like 9.love the animation style. 9 is my favourite of the whole series like.I couldn't play the original now. I love 'retro' gaming but it's aged terribly in terms of looks - especially compared to 8 or 9 which still stand up in my opinion. I mean it's almost 25 years old so it's hardly a surprise like, a lot of early PlayStation games have aged badly.

I've been replaying 8 on the switch recently. Still canny but 9 looks much better.I'm probably fairly biased as 8 was the first I played and loved, even though I had absolutely no idea what I was doing at the time!
This. This. This. The Shinra building is an absolute slog. It's sapping my will to continue just running through its endless boss fights and copy paste corridors. The forced two party approach is such a shit, artificial way to raise difficulty. This is not a patch on the original for me.
