Excellent knock. Now double it. Go, don't let me down lads.....

A failure is always a black mark against any player at any time. It doesn't seem to be registering though that every other player is having more failures and more black marks. He has scored more runs that everybody else by at least 60 runs in the summer tests despite batting at 7 with the tail and your talking about leaving him out of the winter tour despite the failings of our other players. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but there is absolutely no logic whatsoever in this one.

I noticed you pulled that one out as soon as he went past Root like. :D

I have no bother if he goes as a back up keeper to Jonny, I've said that a few times, but I don't think he'll make a Test batter. Now this is based on watching him for England and Lancs over a number of years and him doing not much at all (I'll add that some of the innings he played for Lancs would have embarrassed a club player).

If this is the point in his career that he turns it round and solves one of England's batting problems then I'll be chuffed to bits. But I don't think he will. But when I kept asking you all when was the point we should judge him on what he's actually done, rather than his perceived talent, not one of you could answer. Different story now like.....

No, I absolutely agree. But this is the beauty of Test cricket, it ebbs and flows and until the last wicket falls, or the last run is in the score book, the game is always open. I just don't, and won't, understand why people make assumptions or write a team off after one day of a 5 day game. Baffling.
Did say at the start that surely they have to perform sooner rather than later ;)

Eh hes got way more runs than Root this summer about 330 as things stand to Roots 259

It certainly should be a different story now but it never will be with you I don't think.
