England in the West Indies

Why is Malan not in the T20 side? Did he say mean things about the ECB?

Also, at what point are we allowed to be concerned about Joe's form....?
I don't give a fuck about his T20 form becausw if it's a full strength team he's no where near it imo.

The only reason he played the big bash and then these games against West Indies was to try and get a place in the team and it's totally backfired so far. Not sure he warrants a place in the squad at the minute.

Appreciate this isn't solely a Eng in the WI matter but the speed of play in T20s is appalling. I noticed yesterday at 11pm, Eng were in the middle of the 16th over. Now I appreciate there's a gap for the innings turnaround, but haway an average of 12 overs an hour is cack. They should be getting T20s completed in 3 hours

Wonder how long the 100 will take? Iirc it has to finish inside three hours for the bbc.

More worried about his ODI form. Had a few dodgy series by his standards.

Root isn't a T20 slogger, I'd have Malan in for him.

He played England’s best ever T20 innings at the last world club in the South Africa chase

No chance Malan is better

Root also scored a 100 a few games ago which you are choosing to ignore for some reason
Would you have Root in the T20 side?
This is my team including Archer when he qualifies.
Roy
Buttler
Hales
Bairstow
Morgan
Stokes
Ali
T.Curran
Archer
Rashid
Wood

I would have him instead of Bairstow
Fair enough mate but not for me.

Root seems to have regressed over the last couple of years in T20 to me. Appears to me that he is trying too hard to play bigger shots with lots of aggression when it just isn't his game. He ends up scoring slower than if he just relaxed and played in his own way.

Yeah it's a tight call, but around him is loads of players with big shots Buttler, Roy, Hales and Stokes, that having Root in there gives it a better balance for me.

Bairstow is a quality one day player, bit harsh

Yeah probably is, and don't disgrace with that view in anyway, however looking at the batting order the poster put up, if Root was in the side, Bairstow would come out, as in our T20 side, would have Buttler, Roy, Hales, Morgan and Stokes ahead of him.

I think you need Root at 3, they aren't all slog fests like, especially in competitive games, you need 1 player of that ilk

I'd say Bairstow has moved ahead of Hales for me, more consistent

Its a mute point anyway, because apart from world cups, they are never going to be all in the squad together due to rotation.

I think Hales can be more destructive than Bairstow and with Root and Morgan in the side there is enough of them players of that ilk, but imo it's a tight call either way

Every ball counts in T20 though, not like test cricket where you set a field and throw 6 balls line and length.

That's cack mind. The idea that every ball in test cricket doesn't count.

The whole idea of T20 is that its quick. Taking 3.5 hours for 40 overs is garbage.

It'll be finished after the first season when no one is going to the games and no one is watching on TV. Ecb should be abused relentlessly for this shit. I'd have Graves and Harrison paraded round the boundaries of the County grounds on the back of a slow moving truck whilst the crowd are allowed to throw cricket balls, rotten fruit and fire horseshit from elephant guns at them.
