If I was Bayliss I'd be telling Root to bat three, but he won't and his ton will add ammunition to that argument. The alternative is we KBO with all-rounders who are a walking wicket in that spot, or pick a specialist batsman.

Yea, there's nothing to object to in that - it makes perfect sense. But if you play Micky Gray at centre forward do you blame for not scoring a hat trick?

I said it a couple of days ago. I think his batting form was knocked back by all the trouble last year. He'll recover, he's one of our best batsmen never mind being one of the best all-rounders in the world.

I agree, albeit he needs to score bigger runs

Bairstow averages 30 since January 2017. Not good enough

I can't believe he said we should drop Stokes

I overreact at times, but that really was a ridiculous comment

He batted 5 and got out sweeping 2nd ball, big deal

We aren'g gonna play in the traditional way, people need to learn thatand its working

Still unsure about the pitch personally

Not saying England should have played any other way but when Foakes played off the back foot, the pitch and spin looked slow

280 is usually enough on any pitch but we need to bowl better and set better fields to stop the singles

I am naturally pessimistic but don't think 279 is enough, given how we bowled in the first innings. Pakistan scored 382/3 to win in Kandy in the fourth innings in 2015.

I expect England's spinners to bowl better this time around ;).

Anderson could be in play if he challenges the stumps.
