England in Sri Lanka Red Ball

Reet lads, just ordered mesel some DCCC gear to wear at the Galle test, but not there til the third day. Look forward to seeing any other DCCC supporters there.

The way the weather is out there atm the third day might be part of the first/second play-wise.

I've got no recent news about tickets so winging it atm. I'll be there with me Pompey PO Club flag.

I thought if I'm going it for some of the games I can be afforded the honour of starting the thread. And will post some pics from Galle & Kandy, hopefully with fellow SAFC/DCCC fans.

Enjoy it mate
Am very interested in ticket policy do keep us informed

Definitely wing it, as I said before there are loads of ways of getting in without buying expensive tickets.
Especially first day before they wise up.
Other England fans can advise, but with Galle being a beach destination, half of them won't care

If it is really difficult, watch the first session from from the hill and walk in through the crowds leaving at lunchtime for a pint.

Honestly I defend England more than most

But what were they fuckin doing today

14 players

3 keepers and no leach?

In what scenario in Sri Lanka do you need Woakes and Curran in the same team

I really like this England side I just worry about their logic sometimes

Not a big deal but just seems a total and utter waste of a 2 day game

Don't see the problem myself. Gave folk a run out.

Folk who aren’t gonna play or keep wicket?

Yet couldn’t bowl leach

Very strange excercuce all round

We have 3 days of cricket left before the first test

1 day of bowling

Aye great run out
Folk who might or might not play …… if they are not going to play in any eventuality why take them in the first place.

They must had had a reason not to bowl Leach so fair enough imho but unless it's due to illness/injury (more likely the former not the latter) I can't think what it would be.

All I ask is that they're working to a plan.

After the first test against India this summer, the Sky bods were saying exactly the same thing.

One two day warm up game, not taken seriously, and you expect a touring team to be ready to play in a test series? It simply isn't going to happen

That’s my very point, clearly no plan

What's everyone's team for the first test then? I think we can safely say Bairstow is out...

Bit of a dogs dinner making a team out of the squad. Not enough at the top of the order, too stacked in the middle as ever...

As for the specialist bowlers (i.e. other than Ali and Stokes) only Jimmy is inked in.

So let's have it...

Waste of time, though at least Root racked up a ton. Only thing that raised my eyebrow was how low Ali came in.

Depends who they wanted to have the time in the middle. Obvs Root and Burns and stokes need batting time … I was surprised how high Denly came in, maybe he wanted a good look at him in these conditions. And it sounds like they wanted the wickie options have a bat. Maybe they were confident about the batting form of ali.
