Durham's one day cup campaign

Was there today, and I don’t want to offend anyone but some people really need to get a grip and learn how to bloody accept losing a game of cricket like

Flat pitch, short boundaries, 30 degree heat, there was a mountain of runs scored by both teams, was a really enjoyable day

Some people need to get a grip in my opinion
This is 100% the correct opinion. I think whoever batted second today was winning the game on that wicket.

More than "happy" to accept losing, however I'm more than "happy" to criticise and I feel today they deserve a lot of criticism for a very poor bowling display. Our bowling was absolutely shite and somehow worse than Middlesex. 14 wides has absolutely nothing to do with flat pitches, likewise the high no ball Yusef bowled near the end has nothing to do with flat pitches and short boundaries. I've seen a lot of us this season and our bowling has gone backwards and I believe it's more than a reasonable observation/opinion and equally I believe it's equally acceptable to question Onions because if we were doing well with the bowling, people would be praising and rightly so. I can't fault effort from both sides but it was very poor bowling from both sides, and some of the fielding was poor also, it made for an "entertaining" watch. I always try and defend Durham, but I can't defend that bowling performance today it was shit. We lost at Somerset last week and I felt we gave a good account of ourselves overall but today we fell way short with the bowling and that I feel deserves criticism.

Don’t have to defend anything, it’s white ball cricket, it happens in this tournament

It’s meant to be a fun like not a massive over reaction when we lose a game

I throughly enjoyed the day

The pitch was absolutely tiny and was rapid, was so easy to score boundaries

Not every game at the riverside is like that so I really enjoyed it

Robson played a brilliant innings

Onions shouldn't avoid criticism and questions mind. This isn't acceptable.
Onions was talking to Bedingham in front of us around 35/40 over mark. Discussing why we hadn't changed the 'pace' of our bowling. Bedingham said they had discussed it a while ago but Lees wanted to continue with pace.

Thought we should have bowled Drissell earleir than what we did and also brought him back earlier. Also is Ackermann allowed to bowl? He has barely bowled in white ball this year. Was certainly worth a shot today with how the rest were going

Really,if you don't wish to offend perhaps you should avoid posting inflammatory comments. The points made about this particular game are perfectly valid but anyone with a modicum of common sense would realise that the concerns expressed are of a wider nature relating to recruitment from outside rather than progression within and the downgrading of a once outstanding academy to what is now an utter shambles.
Sorry,don't wish to offend
Genuine supporters benefit a grip, and a fear, of where this club is heading under the current model Perhaps it's you who needs to get a grip

Awful defeat
Know through mutual friend of a dropped soon to depart player (not Killeen) that the manner of which they were dropped I.e how they were spoken to in front of colleagues was really poor
Seems like the whole season is dependent on the t20 blast campaign
Think they shot to bits in the 4 day stuff don’t look like they know to win games, add in a resurgent Yorkshire think they doomed which is not acceptable for me

Absolutely this and I don't mean to offend anyone by saying that I do worry. I've seen enough cricket this season live to come up with that view and I stand by it along with my ever consistent long term views on North & Bostock. The recent members forum and club statement alarmed me at just how ignorant those running the club were towards members and for me that's being the biggest alarm bell for me. On the pitch clearly something not right, the red ball league table doesn't lie and bowling performances like yesterday just reiterate that concern. As I've said for many years I've got no time for Bostock and North, they have no time for us as members and they seemingly are just ploughing on changing the whole traditions of the club and they don't care what anyone thinks. I include recruitment with that also which the blame lies with North, we've signed some absolute rubbish and the Killeen situation is just a huge failure for the club and speaks volumes on recent recruitment. Love the craic, always love my cricket etc but I'm struggling at the moment purely based on what I've seen and experienced this season, if that offends folk then fair do but I'm concerned at the direction of the club off the field and the genuine threat of relegation along with the progression/opportunities of the academy which I believe those running the club are slowly dismantling which I'm sure we all agree with, is a lot standing proud tradition of this club. However I stand by my view that the bowling performance yesterday was unacceptable.

I find this quite ironic considering you have been dismissing my concerns about a lack of home grown stuff for years now like but suddenly after a few defeats you’ve completely changed your opinion. Strange that.

I’ve been constantly told by you that the focus should not be on producing players. You were behind the majority of these signings.

I’d have a team with 8 or 9 local lads, that’s always been my view even when we smashed div 2, when I notice you did not hold that opinion, again strange that.

There was no need for the reaction to that game today, it was very enjoyable, sat with some great blokes who all had a good day out, people just desperate for something to beat up the club about today as per.

We were sat in the Co Durham Lower so could see that conversation taking place on the boundary but couldn't hear what was being said. Tbh the comment about Lees doesn't suprise me one jot.

bostock has undoubtedly done a very good job like

I’ve no idea how people csn suggest otherwise, we were on our absolute knees financially, and now are extremely strong. He’s just rubbed up a minority with some direct comments

North I agree never been sold on 100% myself
Parkinson is with the 16.4. De Leede I believe is injured.

We are taking it seriously, look at the batting line up we picked

People seem to forget the 100

You've got the wrong poster with that accusation. I've always been pro academy. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than an academy product progressing. The facts render your response worthless.
Academy products haven't been given the opportunity to progress as they had hitherto.

Our bowling is sub standard it has been all season. Many members myself included said we need reinforcements in the summer just brought in the woeful Conners.

We went into the match today with 2 front line seamers. 2 kids both miles off the level required and a spinner who takes wickets at over 50.

With Rhodes as a fill in bowler then Lees opens with a debutant it’s insane defending 388 I turned to my dad after the second over of their chase we where losing the game.

As it stands this season other than T20 where we have been half decent.

We are not qualifying in this and the way we have been playing in the championship much as I would love us too be stunned if we win 2 of our last 3 championship games.

My response is not worthless like, people going mental over every thing at the minute like. Making some mistakes on the pitch and suddenly the club is totally rotten apparently.

Cricket is bloody hard, we have no divine right to be at the top table.

No team in the county has a remotely first choice bowling attack

The whole point of this tournament jn the 100 is that young bowlers will get games, we can’t moan when we give young bowlers a chance in it

Our bowling has been just as poor in n the county with our supposed full strength attach allied to Lees captaincy is why we are in relegation trouble.

Only Raine in the longer form has bowled well season we are not producing the same quality of bowler and nobody has improved at all in recent times. Even Potts our stand out bowler has been way below his best.

I don’t get some of the recent requirement or tactics and the criticism for this season is fully justified in my opinion.

We've signed some absolute dross bowlers. The beauty of backing local lads is you still have this sense of being in it together. I can't be chewed on with some random from Glos or wherever going at 8s while we watch local lads being bombed out or move elsewhere for better opportunities.

Not against signing anyone from outside the region, but at least make sure they can play a bit

Should be to win and you play your best XI.

If we make it want the ECB want a second class competition by playing a weakened side may as well just scrap it. Give the senior players a months rest.

Killeen and Coughlin were the best bowlers on monday. Dropping them yesterday wasn't picking the best XI

But by all accounts neither of them will be here next season. Two local lads that have are talented with both ball and bat not wanted enough.

We won the county championship with a team composed largely of academy products. Since North took over we haven't one academy product who has established himself in any form of senior cricket. That's a major concern and a justifiable gripe. We'll never progress long term without a viable academy and relying on buying or loaning in.

We play on Friday too, coughlin isn’t up to 3 games in a week
