Durham mags.......

Keegan came in 92. That's 26 years ago. So at what age does the cut off for bandwagon jumping stop?
Somebody aged 38 might not have been too interested in football at 12 years old but when tyne tees were screening Newcastle matches live in the promotion season of 92/93 they may have developed an interest.
Somebody 50 years of age might be classed as a bandwagon jumper, but really anybody under 40 its hard to say if they just got into following football properly with a relatively successful Newcastle team or if they were a turncoat
Ok. You tell me why the numbers of mags in durham massively increased after football was invented in 1992?

Thats a reasonable case. Now, why dont you just leave the site and go to one of the newcastle sites, where the audience will be drooling over your every post. Dont forget to use pictorials and cut out those big word things.

I'll be honest, I get more sense on here.
Some of the Newcastle forums or Facebook groups I've seen are absolutely dreadful. Proper thickies.
Despite the rivalry, there's better debate on here. When the subject isn't Newcastle, just football in general this is better. Some absolute dimwits on Newcastle pages. Can't abide it.

I don't know that they did. I'm not from there, so don't know what it was like before 92 and don't know the numbers now.
I think people with a casual interest may have been drawn in by what was happening with Newcastle in that 5 year spell from 92 to 97.
But as I said, anybody under 40 may well just have started following Newcastle because it was a nationally recognised local team doing quite well. Something the region hadn't had for a few decades.
Did Sunderland lose a lot of fans post 1992 because of this? Was there not an extra 20k Sunderland fans attending games in the first season at the SoL in the 2nd tier compared to Sunderland's previous time in the 2nd tier at Roker two years earlier when winning the league under Reid?

Are they worse than Sunderland supporters from Northumberland?
Durham miners mate keep up …

Win games they will come. It's interesting that the Mags compare attendances but don't use context. We will never know how many extra fans we would have accrued if we'd had Newcastles results from 96 t0 2003 but we can guess,
