Durham CCC v Durham Uni

Surely these games just highlight the fact there is too much cricket being played by the counties. Yes teams want a run out but playing in temperatures not far above freezing on awful wickets does nothing for the game IMO. They need quality practice and this just isn't it

We review the structure every few years but surely it needs to be stripped down so we can start 2 weeks later. It's the same story every year

Our lass (no pics) has just got to the ground, so hopefully have a few updates during the day with the score

Lets be fair though - we had a mini heatwave last March and the year afore that I remember us playing Hampshire away in the first week in April with temperatures over 20 degrees.

If anything has to change I'd change the T20. It goes on far too long. This year from 28 June to 28 July - 10 games in that time - why don't they just play the ten games altogether over perhaps two weeks or 17 days.

Durham getting batting practice here. Be interesting too see whether we declare overnight or bat on. 339 for 7

Did anyone get down there today. Just wondering how well we actually batted. The standard of the university team appears to decline year by year. Looking on cricinfo looks like only their captain has actually played first class cricket for a county.

I was there. although our batting this morning looks on the face of it to be poor it was terrible batting conditions. The sun came out ion the afternoon and the batsmen looked far more at ease. The University side stuck at it but we'll see when they bat how good they are. I suspect not very..,..

They played 2 spinners which was brave in these conditions.
