Durham Big Meeting

Last day of graduation ceremonies was yesterday so they are now all gone bar the international students.

I had to nip into Durham a few years ago right in the middle of graduation. They had school kids escorting them up to the cathedral to receive their degrees.

I know a taxi driver down Durham who treats the students as an ongoing comedy show. He said Durham during graduation week was like being in the middle of Hogwarts.

What a wag that taxi driver is

Erm...

Not a militant trade unionist, but always a member and advocate.

Also played for Murton band, but not any more. Love music like.

Like climbing mountains, a lot.

Not connected to the medical profession

Does that help :D

There is some strong link there between your pre birth environment and your life.

I think the timing and location of the joke meant it was more a case of funny at the time. When your surrounded by graduation students in their gowns and schoolkids drafted in from Durham School to accompany them, it is a bit weird.

He's actually pretty funny when he goes off on a rant about something that's got his goat and being ex-army, he has no time for students.

He also has ongoing rants about pikeys and McDonald's in Stanley, who served him a shit burger. McDonands in Stanley hasn't got off to a good start.

And there aren't any school children involved in graduation unless they're brothers or sisters of the graduate.

Ho hum.
So why were there school kids making their way up to the cathederal in neat little queues when I saw the graduates heading up to the cathedral to get their degrees?

Whatever.

There are school trips to the cathedral every day of the year.

Is this 'taxi driver' your husband?

That may explain it mate or another nearby event attended by Durham School. Fair enough then.

You had me doubting my own eyes for a few minutes, as my taxi driver mate was stood watching the same thing.

He's a lad I knew back at school years ago. It just happened our paths crossed that day.

The Choristers school is also right next to the cathedral, it could have been them. Definitely no school kids involved in graduation.

You do realise that gracefully admitting that you may have been mistaken isn't really done on the SMB don't you?
Given the slaughter I suffered when I was figuring out how to post pictures, I had begun to realise any sign of weakness was something to be targetted and ruthlessly exploited.

I'm learning. But I'm a big boy and I can take it.

Real slaughter will be what happens when Jeremy Corbyn comes back to Durham to explain his position on Brexit. :D
