Drinking in Sunderland City Centre - restored

Another one to add to this thread which hasn't had a mention is Spot White the pool hall place, there's loads of space to just go in and drink, canny jukebox, does bait, and the private rooms are £12 per hour, with an absolutely massive projector screen for the the footy in the room, Bluetooth sound system and American pool table. Could easy get 8-10 in as a group

Was horrible Sunday morning going to work. Had to be in Newcastle by 7am, which necessitated the use of the 5.30 bus from Park Lane. Absolute complete and utter states all over the place. Hurt to look around and I felt like Travis Bickle taking in the whole mess stone cold sober.

The New Monkey being on in The Point didn't help matters like. Utter states and people who have watched Rocky too many times during lockdown, think every bar up from The Point to Park Lane I saw fists flying all owa, what a shitshow.

Am dreading Black Friday as I work in Town, that was just a taste of what's to come :D

Anyone have any idea what that Craig’s Sports Bar is like beside Victors and Halo? We fancy a change of scenery before the match on Saturday with it being a cup match and with the Manchester derby being the early kick off fancy finding somewhere to watch it. Our usual haunt of Fitzies is well short of teles and unless you’re in very early all the tables in front of the teles are gone. I know there’s Streetbar which is also a sports bar just further down but I’ve been in there once before.

I've watched a couple of matches there about 15 TVs and the drink and food was good.
Certainly worth a visit

Age is just a number my friend, a few bars where the older people go like Greens and Life of Riley

Town was horrible on Saturday mind, now it's getting busier the dickheads are re-appearing, and it's only gonna get worse with December coming up.
Aye I thought it seemed bit rough n ready , maybe im getting too old for it 😀

I think Ithe problem with a lot of people from Sunderland is the self loathing, quick to pour cold water on anything in the city.

I no way as bad as people make out and better than the vast majority of places around
It’s still nowhere near what it was like a generation ago.

I was in Newcastle last weekend, was far better and that will attract more people away from Sunderland.

just like South Shields, used to be buzzing but is a shadow of itself now.

Correct. Because there's more variety. If you walk down from Eldon Square to Central there's more pubs down that road then there is in Central Sunderland put together.. And it's exactly why Go North East have those night busses on nowadays - If you've ever been on 1 of those busses you seem some sights mind, especially when it stops at Concord :D - Neone really cares about what's going on at Sunniside cos it's an absolute trek to get anywhere near a Taxi or the nearest drink after that, it's the equivalent of going to Haymarket.

Because the population is very predominantly students on a weekend (I'd say over 90%) all they care about is what's on down Green Terrace and Vine Place and the answer is not alot, you have 3 huge massive buildings, 1 being changed into a private function hire which is bizarre I reckon considering how big inside Liquid is, 1 still not open until Dec 9th and the other got changed into a Live Band venue which doesn't get anyone in at all as much of a shithole Arizona was, it's a gigantic miss, it's like shagging that fat lass no one wants to know about, you're secretly proud of it but you wont admit it.

I'm out in a couple of weeks so this is correct.

Arizona has gone? When did that happen. Hated the place like.

Fridays were my favourite night out when I was 18-19 (2002). Few pubs would do 3 bottles of shite lager for a fiver and I wasn't picky back then. Tenner into Pzazz with unlimited cheap bottles of lager included in the price. Great at the time.

I reckon we’re about the same age then, tenner into Pzazz and exchange your empty bottle for a new drink, if memory serves.

Moved away from Sunlin in 2013 so have only had about 5 nights out in the town since then, seems shite when I’m back but that’s probably cos I’m older and life moves on.
