DNECL - Durham & North East Cricket League 2021

Suppose alot of clubs will have either started or finished their winter maintenance. Finding clubs that haven't this late on is more difficult.

Oh aye, I do get that marra. Atleast it’s being held at a good ground with good facilities though. I’m sure the Seaham Park lads would travel anywhere to play this game and get a chance of promotion.

Avoids any chance of favouritism perhaps?
Smells of grandeur mate. There will be a large pool of umpires in the feeder leagues that will have no connection with either clubs.Either through playing or living locally. Not an issue when Blackwell,Saggers,Pratt etc umpire at the Riverside.

Why NEPL umpires though.🤔 It would be a honour for two to be selected from the 2 leagues involved .

Smells of grandeur? A game arranged and hosted by the NEPL with the prize being a place in the NEPL. You're surprised they're using NEPL umpires? Of course it also stops anyone accusing officials of bias also.

Consett have won the toss and elected to bowl.Lets hope they're dancing in Hope Street tonight .
Seaham Park 7/1 off 4 overs .

21/1 (8) .

Two important players for the Park in now (Foster and Shaw). If either bats most of the innings, they’ll have a decent score on the board.
For anyone who wants to keep an eye on the live score:

A couple of queries regarding promotion/ relegation scenarios.Same club.
1,Can a 1st team get relegated and a 2nd team be promoted in their place. If so, is it a simple case of the teams reversing tags with the 1st X1 technically remaining in the higher division?
2, Would a relegated 1st team be saved if their Seconds were in the division below.Think this was the rule in the old NEDL 🤔?
Cheers 👍 @robkitchuk

2&3 are correct, the status quo remains the same. Re. Point 1, in the unlikely event of this happening it would remain that the first team will be in the higher division and the second team the lower division. If the club decided to swap playing squads around at that point then it would be the decision of the clubs.

In the NYSD, 2 seasons ago Darlington finished in a relegation spot in the Premier league. Their 2nds finished 3rd in the division below.
1sts were relegated and so were the 2nds. NYSD do not allow 1sts and 2nds in same league.

Cheers 👍.Not a perfect solution but I suppose only practical one in the circumstances.Slighty unfair to any successful 2nd teams but similar to NEPL where the whole club gets relegated based in 1st team results/position.Always felt teams in the NEDL League had a safety net if their 2nds were half decent and were mid table in their division whereas one team clubs were relegated if in the drop zone

Mean NEPL teams dropping into NEDCL
