DNECL - Durham & North East Cricket League 2021

Murton have called today’s Second XI fixture against Brandon off because several of their first teamers are isolating.

Does that mean Brandon get the points due to Murton conceding?

As it stands in the D&NECL

Div 1
Promotion - Seaham Park, Esh Winning, South Shields.
Relegation - Ushaw Moor, Bill Quay

Div 2
Promotion - Seaham Harbour, Ryhope
Relegation - Horden Silksworth

Div 3
Promotion - Langely Park, Durham City, Wearmouth
Relegation - Marsden, Tudhoe

Div 4
Promotion - East Rainton, Ryhope
Relegation - Ushaw Moor (Horden resigned)

Div 5
Promotion - Seaham Harbour, Dawdon, Hunwick
Relegation - East Rainton, Kibblesworth

Div 6
Promotion - Brandon, Mainsforth
No Relegation

That the teams occupying those berths at the moment (or close) still lots to play for!
The issue here is a don't think Esh can be promoted. Last time they tried the ground was rejected as too small.

Shame because they've had good teams over the years.

That’s what I understand too, but I question how fair it is on Brandon, especially if Mainsforth play and win today.
Its not really but its an imperfect system

We closed practically all cricket down a few weeks ago as two sides incl 1s were isolating

We did however put out a 1s on the friday and Saturday which included 3 1s who had missed previous weekend; and a mixture of 2s and 3s. They were heavily beat but allowed langley (on friday) and Shields to collect max points and maintain integrity of league. Was correct thing to do in my view

I spoke to league about 2 years ago and they didn’t seem to think that size of ground would be enough to stop a side getting promoted

Think they also have to play off with the winners of the Northumberland & Tyneside League too for a place in the NEPL.
My understanding is 7 points each but don’t take my word as gospel
Think that's the rule for this season. But don't have book to hand.

It’s been a brilliant season for Seaham

Park and Harbour winning 3 of the 6 leagues!

What’s happening regarding promotion to NEPL? Is there a playoff between Park and another leagues champions? Or are they straight up?

They will play in a play off against Consett. Rumours that Consetts pro will go home after this weeks game and miss the play off.

Any idea on the venue?
There still hasn't been anything confirmed. Often the problem is that clubs have Turfcare or a similar company booked in very quickly after the season ends, leaving very few grounds available as their pitches have been ripped up. I hope it is at a club ground though as it makes for a better atmosphere than the huge pitch at the Riverside.

Can see a few clubs going down to 1 team over the winter. Lots of teams conceding this year. Know of 1 club that want to join (who have 2 teams) so that might boost things but some relegated teams may get a reprieve - or other teams that missed out (Dawdon) may go up anyway.
