I am disappointed with Shields curries - mostly if not all Bangladeshi and usually not as good as Indian or Pakistani.

Meant mains - but not well worded

In that case, not for me at least. Got a couple of veggie friends so they'd obviously order veggie stuff. TBH, a lot of the vegetarians I know would tend to order a couple of side dishes rather than veg curries.

they have been for me in recent times too.

much prefer the ones I cook now. I do occasionally go just to get some naans and onion bhajis as they are the best bit from a takeaway.

I suppose it can boil down to what you are used to - I was brought up on Shields curries so I love them.
Most of the places I've been to in Scotland are not Bangali so I've found them disappointing

In 13 years I've still never had a curry in Scotland that was anywhere near as good as a Shields one

Kebab Mahal, Nicholson Square, Edinburgh. Looks like a truck stop diner and you may need to share your table, but it’s the business and reasonably priced.

Someone should do curry AND beer in the same delivery.

Yes, but only named veg side dishes e.g aloo gobi, bhindi bhaji etc.

Main dish, never. Starter is onion bhaji around 50% of the time. If there’s a meal deal I may get cauliflower bhaji as a side.

Usually spend about £10 per person on an indian take away.
It's extremely satisfying and feels like an event rather than just servicing your hunger.

Usually order a Chicken Jalfrezi or Lamb Balti.


Occasionally get a a Chicken Tarka.

reason...cos I love a curry, its good value and theres loads of choice
I am currently working through the menu of ours so I don't have the same curry twice in a row
range from 5.95 to 6.96 for the chefs specials or tandoor specialities or about a fiver for a normal one and me and the wife share a rice and a nan bread
