I live abroad but thankfully know a bar where the assistant manager is a Pompy fan, so hopefully I can watch it there.

I ended up watching the cup final there, just me the manager and two other Sunderland fans watching it on the big screen.

By extra time the bar was full of pissed off French people wanting Ligue 1 on. Manager quickly told them where to shove it .

The match is on sky in town, there’ll be plenty drinking a tickets worth of pints. Sad reality
Some sad bastards wont give up their Saturday night pints to go to the match. Be the same ones who go on a Saturday afternoon but turn up late as they need neck a pint before the match then go down on 30 minutes to get a couple of pints at half time and come back up for the second half late and then leave on 80 minutes so they can get back to the pub.

funny SAFC just said its only 21500 sold excluding Pompy tickets so someone is telling fibs and our club never do that lol
I said further down the thread that was based upon tickets available and I'd forgot that season ticket seats were still 'Unavailable' at that time.

Everytime the club has set a challenge for the fans this season the fans have responded in great numbers. However the club have failed the supporters (well more the team and manager).

We should have been the Man City of league one with our budget and instead we've limped along since December and ended up 5th. It's pathetic and unacceptable. Added to the fact that we've been shite for years prior to this season, folk are just sick of being let down constantly.

On top of that ST holders are charged for this game meaning some won't go. It's on sky which always knocks a good couple of thousand off the gate and the kick off time is later meaning those who travel from afar may be unable to go.

Historically we usually put in shite performances when we get "bumper" crowds anyway. Might be better with 28k...

That's just bollocks, mind. Carry a few players over on high wages, buying one expensive striker and we're suddenly insanely mega-rich? Nope.

Tbf, you can see why Man City couldn’t sell out the semi a few weeks ago. It’s a lot of money to go to Wembley twice in a few weeks.

Despite that, I do think you will see a lot using car/bus to save cash. Bizarrely, that might actually help the atmosphere, as people won’t be mortal the night before
Aye if we get there i would jusr drive there and back to save coin. Spent a f***ing fortune for the chekatrade

Hence the mass exodus on 80 mins

It seems the crowd is going to be piss poor by our standards, I really can’t get my head around it.

2nd leg at home would've been 8000 bigger imo, plus people are sick of the sight of Portsmouth.

We all know they'll be diving and time wasting from kick off.

I bet you see their trainer on the pitch within 10 minutes.

I f***ing last ve you

Wonder what percentage of the 24k season ticket holders have decided not to go ? This is more to do with expectation not being met than the price of the ticket or kick off time on a Saturday night imo. Obviously not for everyone.

People were eulogising over the 5.30 Doncaster ko time, because we won. No work or school the next day either. Our home midweek evening kick off league matches have been around 28k. People have given up on a team that is limited but fought back many times this season and cannot be accused of not giving 100% , unlike the last two campaigns.

Taking each game in context, we should have beaten Fleetwood hands down by half time. Ok , we didn't , but I've spoken to several people who went to the match from the Fylde Coast, and they all said what a good team we looked. They couldn't believe we got beat. Even tactics were mentioned as superior and that it was a freak result. I agree with that . We got robbed. Some of our fans say we were pathetic. Are they not just looking at the result, the league and the opponents name ? I'm not saying it's acceptable, but lost at Burton 2-1 this season and were worse than at Fleetwood. Wasn't a meltdown gate wise after that game.

Southend was piss poor application from a change of line up and some not looking sharp enough, some lacking confidence and others not over exerting themselves. This display was shocking. You could argue we should have pushed for 3rd spot to get Doncaster with our strongest line up, but obviously a decision was taken to not do this. Right or wrong, we are not the first side to be embedded in a play off situation and adopt this approach.

These two defeats have affected the gate no end. If we had won and drawn, you can almost guarantee 10k extra sales by this point. We played well v Pompey with 41k and no one was complaining too much. The bigger picture was that we were always likely to be in the play offs if won , lost or drew the last two games. I agree Southend was dire, but Fleetwood was not. The first half was as good as if not better than at Accrignton. They nullified us with hard work in the second half and scored twice from two chances, albeit the last touch of the game for the winner. This does not warrant 15-20k missing fans in my opinion.

Quality post fellah
