I'm going tomorrow, but not really looking forward to it, nor do I think we'll get to Wembley.
Had we looked like a team that can win a game the last couple of weeks I might have been feeling optimistic

5 have won promotion from their leagues? What sort of endorsement is that? I believe my eyes which tells me our players have looked no better than the opposition.

Wonder how many Luton and Barnsley players have won promotion from their leagues.

Wholeheartedly agree with your first paragraph. Our recruitments should be questioned. These players were not good enough though, they demonstrated it admirably throughout the season. Pure arrogance to say our players are better than the players of the 4 clubs who finished above us.
It's not though the players were good enough it's how they have been managed.

I'm way not happy that Sunderland finished 5th in div3. Sorry if that is arogant but we deserve way better.

It’s a play off game where anything can happen. Managed to rest a few key players, and they will be well aware of the ability (or lack there of) of killing games off. They will want to get one over Portsmouth so I’m gonna for a 2-0 win

Totally agree. But still have to go and support. It’s like a marriage , through thick and thin.

Let's be honest it's about forking out 20 quid really. We'd get 30k no bother if this was another league game
Certainly for people who occasionally choose to go with us it's not about twenty quid. They want to be entertained and see Safc attack teams. They haven't seen that this season hence they are given it a wide berth. I'll be there but it isdissapointing why people are choosing not to go but given Ross's negative tactics this season given that it is div 3 then I can see their point of view.

I’m going tomorrow and as ever looking forward to it. I expect it will be a nervous, scrappy game with neither side wanting to take too many risks. I’d love to see us take a commanding lead into the second leg but I expect Portsmouth will set up to contain us and in a perfect world nick one on a break or from a set piece.

I can’t get the anger on here for those exercising their right not to go mind.

Football is supposed to be a form of entertainment and if you don’t find it entertaining/ enjoyable enough to entice you to go then people won’t go.

I think there’s a myriad of reasons for the drop off in attendance- live TV coverage, kick off time, the fact that the game is outside the normal seasons scheduled fixtures with people having made long term plans.

I think there’s also an acceptance that our form in the past few weeks suggests that we’re outsiders at best for the playoffs. Up until the debacle of the last few games people were clinging on to the hope we’d sneak automatic promotion, we’d only lost three games all season. Defeats, particularly the manner of them at Fleetwood and especially Southend seem to have knocked the wind out of many fans.

Hopefully Ross will have used this week to get the players back on track.

I’ll go in hope ! 2-1 to the lads.

I know you're absolutely right mate but there's also some that just aren't arsed now, SC holders too and who have renewed for next season. On Saturday the crowd will ill be about 14k down on the recent league fixture, the clamour for Wembley (if) might not be as big as would be expected

The cost of Wembley will play a major part mate. If we get to the final, it’s likely to cost me £500 to get the family there. Added to the Checkatrade, I’ll probably be down in excess of £1k. It’s a lot of money.

That said, I do feel a lot will do day trips. I can see ALS, Tates and others making a fortune from bus bookings. A lot will also drive.

Our players are no better than those in the teams above us. McGeady only one in the team of the year is absolutely correct for me. We have spent half a season without s decent striker and an entire season without a competent centre back. But aye, our wonderful players have been mis-managed. Criticize Ross for recruitment by all means, but I cannot agree that this squad of players were easily good enough to walk automatic promotion. I missed Rochdale at home, but other than that our players only looked completely dominant against Scunthorpe and Doncaster. If the players were that much better than the rest of the division, they would have shown it more regardless of Ross.

I'll be there but we shouldn't be too critical of those who won't. Football is about momentum and though the owners have done a great job Ross's negative tactics have been a killer.

If we had played good football we would have had 40,000 plus for the run in easy. However his turgid football has killed all momentum I'm afraid to say. Instictively I'm not a moaner or bed wetter but IMHO that is why we are where we are sadly.

We haven't world beaters but them player should have been promoted with the right management and tactics.

Will have to agree to disagree.

Tbf, you can see why Man City couldn’t sell out the semi a few weeks ago. It’s a lot of money to go to Wembley twice in a few weeks.

Despite that, I do think you will see a lot using car/bus to save cash. Bizarrely, that might actually help the atmosphere, as people won’t be mortal the night before

So what you're saying is managers don't matter because if the players were better they would have shown it more regardless of Ross.

Get your head out your arse man.

Still 3 days left but it is less than you'd expect. However let's be honest, most are only bothered about how this looks to others. The SoL with 25K home supporters who genuinely want to be there provides as good an atmosphere as it does with the 15K extra who turn up just expecting to be entertained.

Reasons/excuses for a low turnout are each person's business, but it will be a combination of game on TV, low expectations/deflation after such a poor end to the season, and prices/finances. Also need to account for all the concessions/£25 season tickets which in many cases are little more than fillers, where the seats go unused or where people simply aren't going to bring their toddlers to a Saturday night game, esp if they are planning a few pints beforehand.

And yes, there will be many who won't go to this who will clamour for Wembley tickets if we get there. That's always the way (and was especially true in the Checkatrade, considering the attendances we got for that in some of the previous games).
