No it isn't. There are 46 league games and they have all been played, as have the 23 home games that are paid for in a season ticket. These games are not league games they are extra.
Yes but it wouldn't be a bad move for a club to make the extra home game free for season card holders since they failed to make automatic promotion

Obviously I've since learned that this isn't possible so its pointless discussing it

Short memories these fans mind

Full house at the sol can be a class atmosphere, Everton and Chelsea games with the hulk in charge were unreal

Now it’s meant to be shite
"What's the point of going we will only get beat" your quote, not mine, on the previous page

Agree it would've been nice if it was possible. Think these owners might even have done it, or at least charged the £13 per game average price or whatever it works out as.

If we hadn't qualified for the play offs would some people want a part refund on their season tickets for missing out on an extra game?

Still some time to go, but based on where we are now, I think 30,000 is a stretch. It could be lower than our lowest league gate of 27,500. At this level that is still a pretty good gate, but I'm really surprised at how many people are apparently choosing to duff it. (Obviously excludes people who simply cant be there, goes without saying really)

The frustration of just falling short of the top 2 positions, particularly with 2 or 3 weak performances in the run in is understood and shared. But on the basis that we want to progress we could do with as many supporters as we can get there to get behind the team. The atmosphere at the recent Doncaster and Pompey games was great and the performances matched this.

£20 isn't a bad price and as pointed out we had to charge it under EFL regulations. We were charged every time for our previous play off games and I cant remember people bitching too loudly about it then. Maybe if we had gone in with some positive momentum then IMO people wouldn't have complained about the money.

Some people above have suggested we have shit fans. That evidently is not true, but I do think we have a sizeable number who are more the floating voter types, get caught on a wave of optimism and will boost the numbers as and when. They will also find reasons not to go when things are a bit more shaky. Despite the mediocre end to the season, I honestly thought we would be knocking on 40,000 for this.

Oh aye and its on live in the pub on a Saturday night

Ah boo hoo. This is frankly idiotic logic. Amongst others, I ‘supported’ them when they were getting five put past them against Coventry, losing at Fleetwood and Southend and bladdering automatic promotion. Like I said, do one.
So did I. Unlike you though I'm still supporting them in the biggest game of the season. I dunno why you're getting so defensive, I'm not being a dick just genuinely don't understand why you would want to miss the biggest game of the season?

If there are 35,000 supporters there on Saturday, what percentage of them would go to the away leg if we had unlimited tickets?
I'd say probably 10%, personally I couldn't afford both Pompey away and Wembley but there will be a lot wanting to do both.

So that leaves 30,000 who wouldn't go to the more important away leg ...

... does that make them shit supporters in your opinion ?

Well we pay for a season ticket to watch all home league games, where the prize is hopefully promotion, so if we finish in the play offs we are still playing a home game in the same competition
I don’t agree with your point but I can see it. It is made clear from the start of the season which games it does and doesn’t apply to and it’s never the play offs.

There’s a difference between ‘fans’ and ‘supporters.’ Fans are people who are defined by “liking” a club, they don’t necessarily go to games and/or pay to watch, anyway. Whereas ‘supporters’ take it further and “support” the club financially. I’m a ‘supporter,’ I have a season ticket and have had a season ticket for years. I spend money to go and watch and ‘support’ the team when they play away from home etc. And, I’ve had more than enough of ‘supporting’ this shit, for this season. I also couldn’t care less what your opinion is.
Ironic since fan is short for ‘fanatic’ who, when you say it that way, I imagine someone who goes home and away.

shit loads of plans that day then have to speed home to drop the family off, then 20 odd mile back up, straight home after the game, back to sland next day for half marathon.

For a milisecond considered watching at home but

A) just not the same. Id love to see us hammer those shithouse.
B) son would be fuming.

You're a shit fan in my opinion.

I understand that some people can't make it or can't afford it but if you're able to go and choosing not to cause you're annoyed at the ticket price or annoyed we didn't finish top two or whatever then you're a shit fan who isn't really supporting the team.
I'm not going so I suppose having supported the lads since 57, travelled to away games countless times, endured numerous (too many to mention relegation's) far too few cup, leagues titles or watching class players play for the lads, then well yes, that makes me a shit supporter.

Its nothing to do with the way the team has played, price of tickets or trouble. its the fact that kick off is on a Saturday night at 7.45. Its the pandering to the TV media that fucks me off.

Two bad results and the toys are out of the pram in a season where we’ve had the club saved , reunited with fan base and break attendance records at this level.
Fast food throw away culture from the best fans in the land ???
It’s really poor and beyond fickle .

Two good showings v Pompey and a return to Wembley will see many fickle fans back onside . Sunderland wasnt built in a day and it will never be repaired with people on strike like this .

Eddie Brimson, a Watford thug, wrote in his book something along the lines of no one comes out of the woodwork like Sunderland, but we certainly know how to quickly disappear again. Whilst he was complimenting, it also suggested how fickle we can be.

I remember thinking he was wrong and how loyal we are , but this last week is showing his perception to be reality .

Dont buy all this shit about not going- we’ll be there and making a racket- real exciting fixtures
