County Cricket 2022

Looking at the fixtures again - if the Durham Travel Club are organising any Championship away trips this season Ian may as well book an East Midlands Hotel for the whole of September.
Might get different grounds in the 2nds fixtures 🤞
Probably sacrilege to say this but I thoroughly enjoyed the 2nds fixture at Jesmond in August and hope there's one this season.

probably a stupid question but what am i missing here;

Sunday, July 31: Lincolnshire (National Counties match, tbc)

did durham get relegated again as part of the yorkshire punishment?

give the test openers plenty of practice on good wickets is the point I guess

be interesting to see which red ball cricketers want to play red ball cricket in april ahead of the new zealand series.

our CC game vs middlesex ends on July 29th. there is then a 2 and a half week gap until the first test vs south africa.

i'm also not convinced the wickets are that good either but we'll see if anything has changed this year soon enough.

I'm not really sure what playing red ball cricket on April 7th and September 29th will do to benefit a test opener mind, but I am open to be convinced and change my view.

One Day Cup warm up game.

The 3 away games I wanted to do or some of... Derby and Leicester both in September which is our busiest time of the year at work so I'll not get time off. Hopefully get time off for Sussex but that will fall under my new allocation of annual leave so I'll have to see with that one.

Grantham definitely appealing for the one day cup game vs Notts. Always fancied going to Sedberge and noticed Lancashire are playing Essex on August 2nd which is a day Durham don't have a game, so might look at that one also.

Just missed off Worcester at home in the county championship so I'll have to go back and ask for more time off......... that said I've saved a day as one of the games I asked for annual leave is a good Friday

bonus.

i'll have to wait and see what times off i'll have. get rotating days off and occasional long weekends, so i'll just try and fit in odds days here and there. just checked and coach down to cardiff is only £20 (beats £170 on the train) i've never even been to wales let alone that ground so i'm hoping to make that one

One thing I've just noticed. The September games start on a Monday. What's the reasoning behind this? Why can't they start the games on a Saturday or Sunday??? The last game in August is the one day cup semi which is the Tuesday then nothing until the following Monday... Surely it's reasonable to start fixtures on a weekend (one day cup final weekend excluded). It would even give the one day cup finalists a bit more of a rest as some might be playing up until the Thursday before the final at 6pm.

They are pushing Riverside hospitality packages for the Surrey game.

in my mind that makes it more likely surrey will play at gosforth not less

i would love if they went back to close to the sunday cup format. during t20 part of the season play a cc mon-thurs with a t20 on the weekend, the same opponent if possible, or nearby if away. cut down on travel, keep red ball going during the best part of the summer, more cricket in general for fans when it' actually nice to watch instead of sitting freezing for 4 days in april

Don't be silly. That's far too logical and sensible for ECB. Next you'll be arguing that the Hundred isn't the unqualified success that they're claiming it to be.

I was being ironic, need cnampio games in the summer when pitches are best so our openers can learn to bat properly

Interesting piece from the Cricketer looks like a current county head coach has been shortlisted for the Middlesex Head coach job. Be interesting to see who this could be.

NICK FRIEND: The county are hopeful of making an appointment by the end of January, with a shortlist in place that is believed to include an associate nation head coach and a current county incumbent.
