Yes it seemed evident that sartori was here to invest at some later point, conjecture but that’s the way I saw it. However we need £2m off him now if that’s the case.

Given the crazy money in the PL wouldn’t surprise me if the price is a factor of 5X-10X for shares in a League One vs Championship club.

Hopefully some club desperate for a left back will panic this week.
I don’t expect you to give details mate but from what you know of the owners’ intentions, the players we’re targeting and where we are on any potential deals are you confident they we’ll be a stronger team and squad coming out of the window than we were going into it?

Sorry to pounce on you on an unrelated thread.

Still very surprised that Oviedo has not been moved on. Was it club Brugge that was in for him at the start of the season? Doesn't even get much game time and is on a big salary.

There's the problem right there. There's no way Brugge could pay him the same as we are.

Yes we do. It won't make up the drop off from this season but it would still be £6m more than what we'd get if we don't go up.

No, we don't. Clubs getting a parachute payment get that instead of the EFL distribution and PL solidarity payment, not on top. We get the same TV money whichever division we're in. while there might be a small uptick in gate and commercial income, it won't be anything like £6m.

I honestly think you are wasting your time GOM, particularly on this. It just won't go in to some minds despite it being pretty common knowledge.

I think I've misunderstood your post mate. I know the parachute money remains regardless. When you said we get the same amount from TV revenue anyway, we don't surely if we remain in this league?

Last season we earned £7.5m from TV revenue in the championship, this season it's expected to be around £1.5m.

No we didn't. We got around £40m from the year 1 parachute instead. This year we get around £25m. Next year around £15m. All instead of £7m or £1.5m.

Isn't that about the amount they are talking about spending? Donald said we had a bid in for more than we have spent so far and we want 3 players.

Yeah, he's already put me right on that.

I am talking about TV revenue.

Are you saying our TV income this season would be the same if we were in the championship? I thought teams were paid additional money if they are selected for a TV game e.g. If Leeds are selected 10 times to play on TV and Rotherham are selected 7, Leeds would have more TV revenue due to appearing in three more games.

I totally agree with your last sentence and the balance has to be struck between financial prudence and not enough being done to get us out of this terrible division

We clearly don’t need to spend £20m in the next few days to give us the chance to really push on but we do need say £2m to £3m and that will have to be found.

We dare not fail this season.

I'd be surprised if you and the board are a million miles apart on this. Although, like any well run business, they'll try to spend less than that if they can. That will be down to Coton and his team in sourcing the players we need.

It's only about £100k per game.

TV money is a euphemism for money from the EFL/PL, really, as the ultimate source is TV, via the leagues.

Regardless, it's more money and we'll surely be paid less for appearing on TV in league one.

Very impressed w our owner.

Currently in a staring contest w Boro and Wigan to see who blinks first.

My money is on them (blinking first)

The piss take of Sunderland is truly over.

Not convinced about that tbh. 4 bids for Grigg and their manager is doing press talks knowing we will come back in again.

If the piss take was over we should move on because it seems like that’s exactly what he’s doing.

The new board has no money and it’s an ever decreasing circle.

Although what you say is true what I’m also saying is true. We have no money for many signings that much is obvious and I’ve always been open for safc at any point to open the board up to people who have money

The problem we always arrive at at safc is that once people get to be in control of the club they are very loathe to open it up to anyone else

If Donald was smart he would be looking around for a major investor and attracting him or her onto the board

The current board don’t have any money and ultimately that will lead us to a situation we don’t like. in fact we are here now as you can see with the frustration at the minute due to lack of signings

He’s right and if people can open their eyes they can surely see this

It will be a financial disaster for safc if we don’t go up. Even if we do we will need new signings because this current squad isn’t good enough to make any impression on the division above

Crowds will be down next season if we don’t go up and that feel good factor will be lost

First things first though is that Donald needs 3 new signings in the next few days to push us over the line this season. He dare not fail.

No it will not. For heaven's sake man, the facts are easy to check. You can even find them on this thread. "Dare not fail" ??? What the hell are you on about man. Have you not understood anything that has happened in the last few years?

Sugar daddies won't be coming along. We have to re-structure the club, get it so it can live without parachute payments and start again. That may be an ugly reality, but it is a reality nonetheless.

The fact that it’s 4 bids means the piss take is truly over. The old regime would have accepted the first counter!

If he was our outstanding performer week in week out other clubs would be looking at him. Same as Cattermole. He isn't though which is why we are stuck with both of them

Not if we keep going back over and over it isn’t which seems to be what their manager thinks we will do. He’s playing us in public. And now we’ve lost our only hope of goals so he will be laughing his cock off. I’d move on to someone else.
