Chris Mepham

I’ve watched their goal a few times es yesterday and there is a fair bit of culpability from a few players. Firstly their wide man went past Cirkin as if he wasn’t there which was a concern, O, nien didn’t need to go over to that side as his man who scored was already goal side of Jobe who let’s be honest strolled back as if it was a kick about. Mepham and Hume kept their position well and I have no issue. Combined O,nien,Cirkin,Jobe share that one.
Hume and Mepham were miles more to blame than O’Nien

09 is way out of position, which happens quite often tbh. He drifts towards the ball leaving players to get in behind him. His positioning is terrible.

Bellingham jogging five yards behind their players getting into the box to score, which again happens quite often.

Mepham and Ballard should be automatic before 09.

Bellingham slows the game down in possession, doesn’t mark his man out of possession.

That's O'Niens biggest flaw as a centre half, he ball watches and gets dragged out of position at times.

I’ve said it for ages. He just drifts towards the ball and is oblivious where the person he is supposed to be marking is.

I blame this on Ballard injuries. As Ballard is left stranded alone and ends up throwing himself all over, just to cover 09.

Not sure I agree re Ballards injuries but 💯 agree re ball watching

Last season he picked up a booking at Watford that people were praising (the hand ball). Only reason he had to handle it was because he got drawn to the ball and left his man.

He is, he hasn't been playing well though

O'Nien was as much to blame. The whole defence was awful for the goal.
He wasn’t like he had to go out to the player who went by cirkin as he was just running free into the box. Then Hume and Mephem were in the middle with one player and the runner from midfield was hitting the box on his own. One of those 2 should have went to him, probably Mephem and Hume pick the forward

He’s a good reader of the game but for a big lad to easily bullied and doesn’t do enough at set pieces.
Ironically he’s our only player with prem experience so should be a shoe in, but Balllards physicality and set piece play makes him essential. 09 plays because of his possession and passing, bringing the ball out.
The best centre half at the club is Alese, only he can replace 09 I reckon
Yeah Alese was tremendous at centre half start of the season. Could have been a solid premier player if it wasn’t for his injuries.

Here's a novel idea:

How about we threaten the opposition goal and score now and again? Maybe then we wouldn't be arguing about about who was at fault for what should have been an insignificant mistake.

09 makes those around him appear better than they are because he does the hard yards, all the time.

He was man. He got dragged out as he sometimes does. It was poor from all concerned

Ha'way man 🤣🤣

I've watched it loads of times and I simply don't agree. He'd have been much better off holding his position.
How? There is no way he is better off not going. The lad just has free rein to do what he wants if he does not make a move. He did exactly what you want a spare man to do

The danger is behind and down the side, he literally cleared that area. He'd have been better off doing nowt

Agree with all of that. I really like Bellingham but would like to see him a bit higher up the pitch.
