CC : Worcesrershire vs Durham

Well done boys (and I include everyone here too)

It's looked very likely since about May and certain since June. These lads have turned everything into gold after several years of rebuilding which was not helped by 3 years of the pillock Franklin. What an appointment Ryan Campbell has been.

As I mentioned earlier, RC was on the radio the other day and he was asked where this success came from and while he acknowledged the magnificent way the batters have gone about their business he put it down to the bowlers. He said he told the bowlers at the start of the season that they were going to have to take 20 wickets on flattish pitches and he wasn't prepared to tolerate any bowler complaining that pitches were just too flat to get anything out of it. That's just soft talk, he said. Find a way! Try whatever you like, change things around when you're bowling, alter field placings, do anything you want, but find a way. Well they have. What a contrast to the last couple of seasons where teams seemed able at will to bat throughout the final day for the loss of one or two wickets. They haven't managed to do that this year. the bowlers have found a way, but the management deserve credit for working hard to get replacements and quality signings in all season.

He also said, and I agree with him, that Matty Potts is a better bowler now than he was last year, because he's steamed in every game he's played, on unhelpful pitches, and he's challenged batters from the first ball to the last ball without ever letting his pace drop.

What's the form for celebrations, do we think; are they likely to hold some sort of event where we can show our appreciation?

Now we are confirmed as champions do we as @brandon suggested try to set up a result by declaring overnight?

I don’t think the lads will be in any fit state to chase a total tomorrow

Very poor form old boy, let’s not turn a magnificent achievement into settling old scores and let’s not forget the words from the man himself Ryan Campbell last week when he went to great lengths in interview to stress that he had inherited a fantastic team - that didn’t happen by pure chance.

Franklin had many many flaws, no question about that, clearly he didn’t create the atmosphere and environment for the talent to thrive - Ryan Campbell thankfully has done - but it isn’t fair to completely rewrite history here and like I said last week when promotion was secured, there are several people that went before (from players, to coaches, to backroom staff) that have helped contribute to getting this club back on track and Franklin has played his part.

I reiterate, let’s not rewrite history, but above all, let’s celebrate the achievement of a magnificent set of people at our club. Don’t let negativity and the settling of old scores ruin that.

(Say whatever the f*ck we want about the scum Groves and the bent bastards at FTECB though ;)).
now now I don't wish to expose hedgehogs to this utter cretin, harsh on the hogs

Yes, you’re right, I’m very sorry.

I hope his next shite is a water buffalo.

Open top bus down Northumberland Street followed by a presentation at half time at the Saudi Dome.;)

"It's a special feeling," Durham skipper Scott Borthwick told BBC Radio Newcastle. "A lot of Durham people still hold a grudge about the ECB relegating us in 2016.

"We finished fourth and then got thrown into Division Two, but we're now back in Division One, where we should be. Back where we belong.

"I guess it hasn't quite sunk in yet what we have achieved. It was potentially going to happen this game, but next week when we pick up the trophy it will really sink in.

"The lads are absolutely buzzing. I felt we had the talent and the skill to do it this year. The way we have played this year, we have dominated and we deserve to go up with the trophy. I am absolutely thrilled.

"We love our sport in the north and the members have been brilliant this season. There will be lots of people in the ground next week and I'm really pleased for them.

"We thought the weather might spoil things. There was a big downpour at lunch and the outfield was soaking. But we managed to get back on and we bowled well. It was a special moment for Ben Raine to take the final wicket."

You can say that again Scotty

I would as Worcestershire made no effort yesterday to push the game on.
Feel like it's only fair to Leicestershire too. Trying to contrive a victory for us could easily give Worcs a win and give them second.

Draw at least keeps Leics in with a chance. Albeit Worcs will get second place anyway.
