Not sure the coaches have been accused of making mistakes,we've only had 2 of these last day resistances. Franklin acknowledged that they need now to look at the balance of the side after there's been a repeat. There's always a danger,however,that coaches aren't 100% objective because they're so close to the players. Hence the concern about England with the head coach becoming the sole selector.

Sanctimonious.

Coaches never make selection mistakes yet just about everyone and his dog recognises lack of bowling depth and variety has cost us three wins this season.

First, I never said that.

On the sanctimonious comment - I was attempting a little light hearted joke. I apologise if you took it as a dig, that wasn’t my intention.

On the ‘everyone and his dog’ comment, yes, I know, I’m included in that too, because I’ve made the lack of a frontline spinner point several times already this season (including before the first ball of the season was bowled). It’s a problem we’ve had right the way through our existence, or atleast going back to the Boon years.

The problem we have, is we can’t just magic the next Ian Blackwell out of thin air and it appears the cupboard is very bare at present with regards a spinner.

I’m interested to see if Trevaskis can cut the mustard, if he’s picked on Thursday I’ll be fully behind him - but the people tasked with making that decision haven’t so far entrusted him with that role. There’s only so many bowlers the side can have and up to now, Franklin (and possibly Borthwick) have decided four seamers and Borthwick are the best option for Durham taking 20 wickets.

What I take from that to this point is that they feel any quintet of Rushy, Carse, Coughlin, Raine and Salisbury PLUS Borthwick is still a better option than a team including Trevaskis and/or Thomson.
