Can’t believe people really that desperate for a drink...

Might be an obvious question, but why are you going to pubs on your own if you’re sick of sitting by yourself? Just stay in the house if you can’t get some mates together.

Yet you’d think with the rough reputation the NE has it would be the more violent place. I don’t know what’s happened up here, but in the 90s you’d see at least one fight a night. Thankfully that culture has all but gone now.
Was usually outside of nightclubs or in pizza shops when everywhere kicked out at 2 am that it was carnage.

Its been a shit night if you only see one fight a night in Shields in the 90s 😂

Pubs were struggling before Covid, I got sick of going out and sitting in pubs on my own, I thought what's the point. Pubs for me are more about the social aspect not just the beer. Its one of the great things about Britain, being able to go into a pub and have a conversation with a stranger or group of people about football or whatever, pubs without customers are like football grounds without crowds, and most of the generation who loved pubs as much as this generation love their mobile phones, are dying off. Pubs as a 24/7 institution are a thing of the past IMO.In future I reckon only a select few will survive and only open at certain times etc. Pubs are dying out, its sad but true, and Covid has speeded up the decline by around 5 years.
If you're sick of sitting in pubs on your own, then you know where the problem lies. ;)

Yeah there are a few decent ones and I'll pop in a bit later in the year once things have quietened down a bit.

There is a culture in this country, I'm sure you will have noticed, to concentrate on getting alcohol on board. It doesn't seem to happen as much in most other European countries with some exceptions. Their culture is to socialise, maybe even in cafes without alcohol, but there isn't the obsession about cramming as many pints or shots down the Gregory as there is here.

My prediction is that even the nice pubs will have people in there who are a bit lacking in intelligence and emotional development that will just drink to stupid levels this week and it rarely ends well when that happens. They will have been bored off their tits getting pissed at home and they'll be straining at the leash this week. It ruins an evening out having to watch fights, beer glasses getting hoyed around, all the screaming and shouting and chimpanzee like posturing with the arms in the air. I'm just not in a rush to join the show.
Do you get in a time machine and drink in the wild west?

Got 10 days off work at the start of May so will probably go somewhere local, maybe the Chesters. Another day through Newcastle quayside, then get in car and go for a day out and a pint. Just the one then though. Went past the Palm on monday afternoon and canny busy but looked ok. Not my thing there though. It'll be horrendous come the weekend with all the trowelled on make up, cows eyelashes, trout pouts and selfie/instagram mob....the lasses will be just as bad. Old joke.
