I’ve said all summer I think it’s Harte briefing people on it. The timing of the interview that came immediately after the first rejected bid when he said ‘everyone has their price’ or word to that effect, was too much of a coincidence and I believed then Harte knew how much it would take. Now seems that amount may well have been 10 million.
I’ve still always thought he will be here this season though as I didn’t think anyone would bid £15 + which is what a I thought it would take to get him, and I’m led to believe he’s happy enough here. Obviously a massive offer (everyone has their price ringing again) would give him food for thought though.
I’d have been livid if we accepted 10 million, mind. Seems odd we would even suggest that to him but I do think we won’t be kernts about stopping players go, especially if we want to keep signing younger players as bringing them in and allowing them to go when they get decent offers works in our favour when getting them here in the first place.
