Away tickets - Loyalty points . . .

Would you expect a photo of your ID on your phone to get you into a night club?

Nope.

How do people without passports or driving licences get into a night club?

My local rubbish tip requires photo ID to drop off my garden rubbish. I’m amazed how people get through life without ID.
I agree - these people are out there though

- Put any mid week, what would be cat b/c games to a full ballot (or pick x amount of games per season that will go to this).
- Keep tickets for cat A/weekend games the way it is currently.
- Sort the reselling problem so it’s not an option that people can do.

1. loyalty is still rewarded and the same people who get tickets now will have first chance for most games.

2. Those who have no chance currently will have a way of getting to some away games, and closes the gap in points over the 3 year period.

3. The club can charge a membership fee for people to be able to enter the few balloted games so increased annual revenue for them.

4. If for any reason you need to stop going to away games, you have a better chance of getting back into it later on and less likely to resell tickets to maintain the high points

Everyone’s a winner.

Under no system can everyone ‘win’.

For every person ‘helped’ into the top 3k someone else had to be pushed out.

I think, if you apply for a ticket you should get a point, if you actually get one, you should get two points. Look, I was at Cheltenham, Shrewsbury, Accrington, MK Dons etc, places to this day I couldn’t point out on a map, but, thankfully, this was 3/4 years ago and sound be put in the bin and never spoken about again

They will introduce a ballot, simple system, small percentage of tickets put aside for all s/t holders to apply for a chance to attend.

Absolutely the right thing to do and the small minority of self proclaimed best supporters who will winge like mad will be rightfully ignored.
There was plenty of opportunity to build up points from the three previous seasons in the Championship, where many games went to 0 points and general sale.

You obviously chose not to go and are now rightfully not getting priority for tickets this season.

There is no such thing as applying for a ticket anymore, you just buy when the phase drops to your loyalty point number. The old application system probably was "fairer" in my opinion because of that.

I was joking. Of course everyone can’t win. However it give more people a chance of getting them than they do now and makes it more equitable across the season. Rather than it being a closed shop to most as it is now

Its quite obvious with the lack of atmosphere among the away support this season that there is too many anoraks who collect black cats points like its a stamp collection. The ballot will help liven things up by allowing a wider section of society to attend.

I will agree about the atmosphere this season it has been poor away from home at times.

I get both arguments here, I’m fortunate to be in phase 1 and think that’s right for me and others who have put the miles in , but also understand longer term there should still be opportunity for people to build points up especially the younger generation coming through. But this is the main point in all of this that I feel strongly about - this is not the time to now change just because demand is suddenly high in the premier league. The reason is demand will drop off in the coming seasons, I probably went to 70% over games previously and this season I’m going to them all, and there will be others like me with us been out the prem for so long, I will probably drop back down to 70% next season and expect others will too (not all as I know some who will do every one) but my point is in the coming seasons demand will drop when hopefully we stay in the prem long term, at that point there will be opportunity for people to build up points. If after a few seasons that’s not the case then it will be time to look at the system

Absolutely spot on. I'm not in phase 1 (or 2 nowadays after stopping most aways when my son came along ) but I completely agree

The old method where you'd get a point for applying was okay at the time, but doesn't really work when everyone knows it'll sell out at over 25 points. People would just apply for every game even if they couldn't attend, because they could be 99% certain they'll get a point for no effort and no cost. Back in the day you might actually get some tickets so people at least had to be prepared to pay the ticket cost so it wouldn't work this season. Maybe it could be considered if demand drops a little bit but it's still easy to just apply for close by games that you know you won't get just to get a point. There's no great alternative which is why keeping it as it is has to be the fairest approach for now

Would have been nice to get a single point for every home game, Being a seasoncard holder for over 5 years now that would have been around 100 points by now.
The reason is that the recent PL Season Card holders wil have as much a chance as long serving SC holders getting tickets say for Wembley FA Cup.
To me thats unfair? Unless there is a system in place to allow long serving SC holders better access?

Of course, the great advantage of the current system, especially in Phase 1, is that you can choose where to sit, rather than having one randomly allocated to you. I have specific seating requirements due to mobility issues. A return to randomly allocated seats would mean the end of aways for me.
