Australia v England, 2nd Test, 4th December 0400

The last time Joe Root came to the crease with the score above 100 in a Test match was in August 2021 against India at Headingley, Leeds.

In that specific match (the third Test of the series):

England's first wicket fell with the score on 35.

The second wicket fell with the score on 100.

Joe Root came to the crease at number 4 with the score at 100/2.

He went on to score his 23rd Test century, making 121 runs.
Bazball.😎

In the previous Wisden Cricket Monthly they had an interview with Andy Moles who when he was coaching New Zealand asked McCullum to “rein it in a little” at the top of the order.

McCullum’s response was: “No, I’m not going to do that. I’m building a brand: Brand McCullum”.

Just about sums it up.
What a walloper
Next coach has to be one who installs discipline and valuing your wicket, Ponting would be ideal but I think he's pretty adamant he doesn't want to coach international teams, so maybe a Justin Langer type
Id have langer in a heartbeat, he would prick some egos

Iv propperly bolloxed my back so been on codine and paracetamol, laid on the couch. Cant sleep so i thought id watch all of this test to cheer me up. Fuck me i wish i hadnt.I could bat better with a shagged spine.
This has been an absolute shambles apart from root (poor bastard having to try to constantly rescue this lot)
Swinging the bat out at the 10th stump at anthing flleing past, against a half strength oz attack.
I honestly think if Alistair Cook strapped on his pads he would fair better as hes got a brain.
6 or 7 dropped regulation catches that you would have been bollocked for in a local village chairity game.
And the worst bit (apart from Root) they dont seem that arsed, no fight in any of them to take the game by the scruff of the neck. Its the ASHES, a war, the pinacle of sport and these useless twats seem to be on a nice all expenses paid holliday with a bit of cricket involved.
I bet the aussies are pissing themselves.

It would be useful if there was someone in the organisation who would dare to say ' Ben/Brendan, this approach is a pile of shit and needs to change'. Sadly there isn't and if there was, they'd find themselves chucked out. A cliquey boys club. I'd leave their P45s (McCullum and Key) at the security desk at Sydney Airport for them to read on the way home.

Is there any leaders in the dressing room that will stand up to stokes and tell him hes got it wrong, i dont think their is. Back in the day theres was plenty that would call the skipper out if it wasnt workimg.

Just really disappointed at how this has gone. We’ve supposedly prepared for this for four years but after just 5 days of cricket it’s effectively over. Wasn’t under the illusion that we were going to win the series but thought we’d be at least competitive. It’s been another embarrassment.
