I'd see it as photographing an inanimate object. The way I read it, Still Life gives the photographer the opportunity to arrange the subject but I wouldn't see that as a prerequisite

so people and animals aside, it's photographs of anything in any guise or style?

i've been out and bought a fancy vase and some sunflowers. Even built a snood for my flash as well

Just uploaded this but found that when I was playing with it that if you invert the image the lighting appears to be coming from within the fondant child and the contrast with the flowers is quite nice . Taken using natural light and a variation on the theme since it's still, a life, but not a living object.
