I find the clamour for Livingstone at test level bizarre. Fully behind him in the white ball stuff but not sure where this red ball stuff comes from. He has had 1 good season in red ball cricket in about 5 years.

2017-2019 his CC average was well into the 40s, and he took the Lancs captaincy while batting at 3. He should have been picked then, no question about it. He's not done anything since but then he rarely plays, and keeps getting dropped in and out of matches.

He's excelling in white ball, and he's a spiky character who won't be overwrought in Oz. I do worry about some of our team, couple of them seem a bit meek. All this 'has to play' is over the top, but would be in my team.

No doubt about his character like, definitely would be up for the battle over there. To be honest I wouldn't be massively against him being in the squad, I just think that sums up how poor our batting is though. He has 1 first class 100 since 2017 (admittedly probably a victim of his own success in the t20 franchise stuff so hasn't played as much). It just feels very much like it's the old trap of recent times of - good at the white ball, can do a bit of everything so get him in the team. I don't think he would even be in the discussion if he didn't bowl a little bit, but how many overs would he actually bowl down under?

1 first class ton since 2017 doesn’t stop you playing red ball cricket for England as a batsman. We have previous in that regard

I don't think we win the series with him in but I can see a 3-1, 3-0 series depending on how he performs - because let's be fair he will be rusty for most of the series with bat and ball - should be make it

if someone does well with lions they could come in

I just think they should have made that a lot clearer and said they are both flexible the 2

would put less pressure on decisions and mean it’s not a big deal if you swapped Overton for mahmood or whatever

As good a first class average as anyone else in the squad. Flying in international cricket and full of confidence. Game would suit Australian conditions/bowling.
