Surely what Nasser said about Finn there isn't true?

Claimed that Middlesex were trying to turn him into a pitch it up swing bowler :shock:
 
Cracking toss towin, now we MUST be posting 400+.

Cant see Usman causing us too much bother but I think Harris is a good move by them.
 
Think Finn needs some county cricket to get some confidence back and have the chance of bowling some long spells. He's a fine bowler but has looked out of sorts most of the season.

Currently the best bowler they have, he just can't play back to back tests. Should be looking to bat once but we know how that usually turns out with England :roll:

Bresnan will not take more than 3 wickets and will score less than 30 runs in this match!

Agreed. Although I can't see why Bresnan got picked ahead of Bunny. For once, it doesn't affect our Championship push either.
 
Don't really see what Bresnan is going to offer in this test, Finn is a much more dangerous bowler and shouldn't be discarded based on an iffy first test.

I think the selectors have been straining to get Bresnan in for a while due to his batting ability but I wouldn't say he's a better bowler than Finn or Onions, who is going to sit on the sidelines all summer as 13th man at Durham's expense.
 
Quite pleased to see Starc dropped as well. Outside of Siddle's stupid hour he bowled the two best Aussie spells at Trent Bridge and we looked a bit iffy v his leftie over.

I tend to agree. Although I suppose Bresnan can bowl a tight line and reverse it a bit which may come in to play.

If he couldn't hold a bat he'd be languishing on the county circuit regarded as nothing more than a decent bowler. We've already got enough batsmen with Broad and Swann at 8 and 9; he will add nothing to this attack.

It's the continued ultra-conservative approach from Cook & Flower, Broad scored 65 in the last test and will be dropped down to accomodate Bresnan. Fair enough in modern cricket you need to bat a bit further down than in previous era's but we bat to 9 with Swann and Anderson is decent at 10. You should back your top 7 to score enough runs, have a decent number 8 as back-up and pick you're 4 best bowlers, Bresnan is not in that for me and if he couldn't bat would not be in the squad on bowling ability alone.
 
Apparently

Bresnan pre Dec 2011: batting ave of 45.42 bowling ave 23.60.
Post Dec 2011 batting ave 17.14 bowling ave 55.43.
