I really dont get the fascination with them. Do you not just turn on the radio to listen to music or put a CD in or play the downloaded album.

Is it not just a toy for the lazy?

saves my fingers pushing the radio button, which saves the NHS money as I don't have arthritis

I do but already have ways to listen to it. no point spending £50/£100 to duplicate them

I play my spotify through my speakers and have a bluetooth speaker for outside, so probably won't bother in the end but I quite like the idea of asking it for random stuff like weather etc.

you need to link to a Bluetooth speaker though and doesn't look as nice as the larger unit

The dot speaker sounds like 1980s radio. Another reason not to bother

I’ve had one of these ones for almost a year and as much as I prefer Google’s echo system I just hate having to say hey google, or ok google...one word, Alexa, is much more natural.

Got ours in the prime day sale last month for £70. Have it in the kitchen and very handy for using to listen to the radio, cooking and playing daft games (especially when it insults you via "roast me")

If I want music I route the command to play Spotify on another system which plays through proper speakers.

Wasn’t impressed with echo as a speaker, nor th google home tbh.

It’s a cheap device used for home automation etc...if you want a Better speaker you play through your sound system.

You need a better speaker for the dot AND the full sized echo if you want to listen to music...that’s my point, no need to spend more on the full sized echo.

I use it for recipes or as a timer for baking. There is a daft game called roast me, where it basically insults you and the insults can be quite rude

Use both, it really is very handy. Just route the sound to your proper kit, the speakers I’m both are crap for music.
