Odd happenings in Scotland.

Morelos chases a guy tampering with his car and journalists run the story, some of whom, infer ever so subtly that it may have been a rival teams supporters and that the suspicion was they were cutting his brake cables. Issue is reported to the police. One Rangers sympathetic journalist alludes that this is as good as attempted murder by a rival football fan.

A week later, it transpires, the police determine that the guy tampering with Morelos’ car was in fact a private investigator, hired by Morelos’ missus to track him as he’s suspected of having an affair.

On the day this story breaks, Rangers release a sky sports interview with Morelos in which he alluded to racism and difficult times he has experienced in Scotland, clearly inferring again, at the hands of Celtic fans. The interview is given in his native tongue with subtitles.

Celtic, having seen the interview and the subsequent newspaper stories about Scottish football perhaps having a racism problem, have the interview translated and it turns out,the subtitles in some places are completely alien to the actual words Morelos is saying. Despite the subtitles saying so, no point does he say he has experienced racism from Celtic fans

Sky sports have subsequently issued an apology to Celtic for incorrectly accusing their fans of racism and they’ve released an accurate transcript of the interview. Celtic have referred the issue to OFCOM.

Love Scottish football me. I hope Morelos stays at Rangers.

More to the point I hope Sky get hauled over the coals for this. They aren’t much better than the Sun.

Are you even suprised?

Why have you got an avatar of Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane?

They’re both our former managers and I happen to be in unrequited love with the both of them.

Whilst a lifelong Sunderland supporter, I’m also a fan of Glasgow Celtic. It’s for the former though and not the latter that I have them as my avatar.

What was your take on Sundays game, was on in the casino I was in and could swear the ref was bought and paid for.
Thought the most blatant red card you'll ever see will be enforced by the SFA after though, then saw an article this week saying they believed the stamp was accidental.
Corrupt surely? One of the worst post match decisions since they cleared Shearer after his assault on Lennon.

The standard of refereeing in Scotland is generally poor. Both old firm teams will say they’re the hardest done to, reality is both are equal. Last season Ryan Kent decked Brown in front of the referee and escaped a red.

Griffiths’ should have been a red. Did you see Morelos being rugby tackled against Aberdeen too? Not even a booking. Standards in Scotland are reminiscent of the Souness/McMahon/Reidy era.

You can’t have been watching Scottish football for too long then. I’ve seen worse tackles/decisions than that one in the SPFL this week.

Rangers have been poor since the break, dropping points whereas Celtic have been decent, last night they were exceptional. You have to be mindful both teams fans will go with the same old tropes and criticise the refereeing whenever they’re playing poorly. Strange the refereeing is rarely mentioned by either club when they’re winning.
