Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Not sure mind. I’ve been on the boards over 20 years and for me personally the last few months have been up there with the worst.

I still can’t help look at and post though
Same , only time I couldn't bring myself to come on was after the Derby .

Every club and striker knows how desperate we are for a striker, of course they'll try to get more money out of us, it's called leverage.

I really don't think this fella will score more than 7-8 goals in this team and league. They get way more time on the ball in the french 2nd division, and our players last season struggled to service the forwards we played and they were left isolated.
To be fair though, a striker than can score 7-10 goals is a monumental upgrade on the incompetence we have now. We literally do not have a striker fit for purpose at the club.

The amount of games last season we needed a run of the mill striker just to get on the end of something.

If you accept the players version of events, I actually feel a bit sorry for Speakman over this one - I know I know

Anyway, we shouldn't wait forever and the fact that we'll start the season without a proven striker is simply unforgivable, so there my sympathy ends.
I know what you’re saying, but Mendy isn’t exactly proven. Ligue 2 is a pretty poor standard really. Rusyn did well in Ukraine which is probably on par (aside from Dynamo Kiev & Shakhtar of course).

We still have Rusyn to start so it’s not as if we’re going in to the season with absolutely nobody.

I would have more sympathy for him if Mendy was the only striker in the world, shows again that we have no plan b when it comes to striker recruitment

Absolute farce mate it hasn't been resolved.
Considering the last couple of transfer windows I'm really not surprised mate, shopping around for free transfers and the lower leagues in Europe.

2 goals last season, it's criminal if we do considering the owner has stated that lessons have been learned.

Yep, no surprise to me either mate. See if we pull a rabbit or 2 out of the bag and KLD releases some funds to pay for a quality striker or 2.......

2 goals and an assist in 793 minutes. A goal contribution every 3 games for a bloke who spent half the season in the pits of his mind not speaking the language and his family was still in Ukraine

Not saying he’s going to come any good because we ultimately don’t know. But he’s not had a proper chance yet

That’s surely not how it works though. If they knew Stewart was likely to go (which they obviously planned for) they would have factored that in to the budget.

If I know I have a paycheck coming I know I’m safe to spend money in the meantime because it will be replenished.

If that’s the case then why are they not factoring in the money we’ll make from the departure/s of Clarke/Ekwah/Jobe?

You're right. Also had good moments in other games, changed the game in our favour down at Boro, made a great run to take the defenders away for Neil's goal vs Norwich IIRC.

Mind, I think he's had a poor pre season, I think we'd be stupid to totally rely on him, but I think he can be 2nd or 3rd choice.

Of course he didn’t live up to expectation. But it’s difficult circumstances, footballers are human. Not easy for every player to come on and just hit the ground running
